Just curious what everyones favorite non-essential questlines were. Anyone can spew out their thoughts on the OGB or Leandra, but what about the quests that intrigued you along the way? Personally, my favorites from origins (in no particular order) were topsiders honor, as i have a thing for ancient elven artifacts, gaxkang, and the revnants captured in the vials. In DA2, the whole band of three quest got me. So.....thoughts?

I would like to see some side quests like what Lionhead Studios did with Fable 3, and poked fun at themselves. The Game quest was one of the best quests ever
.
I'd like to see some funny quests in DA3.

I hate fetch quests, I like neat quests that for example make me search an area for evidence and finding bad guys, free slaves, save someone or a side quest that involves the fade and demons..etc.

Are we limited to Dragon Age here? Because I liked the quest in Jade Empire that had the Crime Lady sending me to find her a Husband...
Since I know where we are, I'm obviously just slipping that in to prove that you don't need an overabundance of "go kill stuff" in side quests. Imagination can create brilliant circumstances that lead to hilarious and fulfilling quests. I would like to see Dragon Age side-quests amount to more than the blandness of fetch and kill.
Sorry, I totally side tracked myself there - I liked Feynriel's Night Terrors story line. In fact, despite it's unnecessarily large amount of killing, it's probably the only sub-quest that I ever really truly enjoyed in Dragon Age.
Not only did I get to potentially save the soul of a young boy who was completely out of his depth but, depending on the choices I selected through-out the quest, I could also help him see his personal failings and watch him mature into a reasonably responsible adult.
In the third Act of my Mage supporter play-through, hearing an eye witness account of Feynriel's power, and how responsibly he had chosen to use it filled me with a sense of pride.
It was fulfilling to watch him change from an awkward teenager with no idea what his place in the world was, into a young man who wanted to master his powers and use them to help people. He seemed relatively level headed by the end of the play-through and I was ever so proud.
It was a very nice story line. I appreciated it for the characters that it contained - If not the overabundance of killing.
Editted for bonus stuff.

I like for even the smallest of sidequests to pose some sort of moral dilemma because it reinforces my mindset for the type of character I'm playing in between the big decisions, as in, the quests like Asunder in the deep roads when you have to choose to fight the demon or set it free for a reward, or like the different outcomes with Gheyna/Cammen. However small, I prefer these types of quests that define character and earn rivalry/friendship points with my companions over simple fetch quests.

The one where you kill stuff.

I found the demon-related quests to be the most interesting.

Indeed. But mostly because those end up having a good story with it. Asunder was a good example

Some of the more political decisions of Awakening I thought were intriguing, and I would like some side quests (even main quests?) that have to do with forming alliances with this king or that corrupt Chantry official or this business magnate or that gang leader. And have the consequences, both good and bad, of your decisions crop up throughout the game.
Two things should be avoided though:
1) Benefits shouldn't be unfairly slanted in favor of a particular course of action (in ME2 and ME3 the renegade choices get the short end of the stick at times, especially in the latter)
2) The conversations and interactions should be less rote (i.e. not just choosing the highlighted response on the left side of the conversation wheel) and more contextual, and offer several possible ways of arriving at a desired outcome.
3) I just thought of a third one: don't make the player take an experience/coin penalty for resolving a situation peacefully!
Combat side quests are always going to be the core, and a few fetch quests never hurt anyone, but I think there are good chances for some variety.

Number 2 is soooooo important. Honestly I believe that is the major failing of the dialog wheel. You always base your decision on whether its good or bad hawke rather than choosing the best option for your roleplay

@sylvanpixie: no it doesn't have to only be for DA. My thought for this thread was to show the devs what kind of quests we prefer

DAO: Helping Oghren get together with Felsi is great for a laugh.
DA2: Feynriel had a great questline that really showed off the advantages to the decade-long narrative.

I actually really liked Aveline's quest to "woo" Donnic in DA2, it was amusingly awkward.

That one's a close second for me. Bring Isabela along for extra hilarity.
