There's too much optimism in here- top 5 this top 5 that, romance this, romance that, it sickens me. You're only setting yourself up for disappointment. Instead let's describe the worst dragon age game possible, then you can be glad when bioware doesn't do that. Or maybe you can be glad that they picked your answer.

I'm not starting just in case the thread fails horribly

There will be plenty of negativity in the months to come, I'm sure. 'Tis the internet, after all.

A story that feels unfinished. (Still can't help remembering the final battle of DA2, being transported to Hawke's estate and being like "but.. wha..?")

An ending that doesn't make sense. (We know to what I am referring.)

Characters I cannot stand, or more specifically companions I cannot stand. We need people like Howe and Anora. (Usually not a problem with BioWare games.)

A protagonist I don't empathise with.

Boring combat. (I don't want auto-attack or button mashing. I want something that makes me have to pause and be strategic.)

Expecting my character to be important but ending up just as an unimportant pawn in the war.

The war not being a tragedy. (The civil war that ripped through Ferelden wasn't as tragic as I would have liked apart from the consequences in Redcliffe.)

Having decisions of no consequence.

Not having bits that chill me to the bone. (More broodmother-like situations!)

That is my worst case scenario, but I don't think any of that is going to happen. Which is why I am so optimistic. :D

It looks like they are going to be spending a lot more time on this one, so my hopes are higher.

I couldn't really guess at a worst case scenario, because not only is it not giving them any faith in their experience as writers and designers... well, to be blunt and honest, the way things go wrong is seldom the way you expect, and often on a much bigger scale.

I do agree that some people are setting themselves up to be disappointed, but it can't be helped for now. The best way to go about this situation is to have low expectations that DA3 will do well. If it flops, then you never that much of it anyway, but if it does good, I'll be a pleasant surprise.

My solution is to just not preorder and wait for reviews and player opinions before I even think of buying it. After the disasters of ME3, DA2 and TOR, I'm not in the mood for any more disappointment.

I open the case and there is just a turd.

Some would argue that would be DA2 and ME 3, I disagree but BioWare could mees this up, or they could actually put a turd in the case...

The worst Dragon Age game is one that doesn't get made.

That's what I thought until I played DA2. I would have preferred they kept that one to themselves.

Morrigan and Flemeth wont have their story finished, no darkspawn and to much focus on civial war.

Dragon Age 2 has a lot of issues that need to be addressed in Dragon Age 3. I fully agree that just sitting in the forums demanding that Cullen become a love interest or screaming that Morrigan needs to return and how she'll be their ace in the hole doesn't help the Devs and writers. This only makes everything worse and we'll end up having more forced, fan-serviced returns that seem to do more damage to that character than good. ( Leliana & Anders)

The gameplay in Dragon age 2 was a mess and needs to be heavily tuned up. Every single lowlife bandit has a small army of friends or bodyguard to attack you. The cooldowns for abilities and potion use were way too long. The over the top combat animations drove me insane. I sat in the same fricken cave and city for almost entire game.

Although I didn't hate the story and did enjoy some parts of it, I felt more drawn into the blight and my companions in Dragon Age: Origins. I couldn't even recall Sebastian's name at one point nor did I care for any of the LI in the second game. I was actually very sad (and annoyed) to hear that Leliana may not reunite with my Warden after DAO. Yet, in DA2 I wouldn't even care if I saw my LI with another. The lack of text epilogue at the end and how the ending was just "Buy Dragon Age 3", pissed me off. I couldn't stand how they removed race selection and gave us a forced Shepard style protagonist. The overuse of cinematic were awful. Paraphrases rarely made sense ( I want to be a Dragon.) and the auto-dialogue was ridiculous. ( Although, it wasn't as bad as ME3).

As it's been said, the people posting "OMG!!!!!!! DRAGON AGE 3!!!! I WANT MORRIGAN AND CULLEN AS COMPANIONS!!! OGB!! OGB!! OGB!! OGB!!! MOAR ROMANCES!!!!!, are always the ones screaming in the forums after the game's release about how Bioware ruined Dragon Age and how David Gaider and Mike Laidlaw were the incarnations of the devil:devil:.

No. I refuse to start being negative at this point. There's already some writing on the wall suggesting the game can indeed go very, very bad(bioware heads retire the day after the game is announced, Frostbite 2 engine, expecting to play a mage inquisitor requires a whole lot of in-game explaining) but I'll wait for more clues before starting to shut it down.

The writing was on the wall for Mass Effect 3 as well.....Battlefield 3 promotion, heavy focus on multiplayer and so on. It was easy to see the game was going to suffer in very major ways but I don't think anyone could have predicted just how wrong it would all go.

Inquisition will be a great opportunity to see whether BioWare can survive the departure of its founders and whether they have learned anything from what happened with ME3.

Any ending that allows the templars to remain in existence/power, really. Aside from that, I have faith in Bioware to get past most of the issues here.

Already posted my worst possible plot scenario a few months ago:

http://social.biowar.../index/12534625

The post generated a bit of flaming, as a lot of people ignored the intro, outro and above all the tone of the piece which was written in a very sarcastic, OTT manner.

... presumably assuming it was some kind of list of stuff I actually wanted to see added.

Not my worst case but some critical issues I'm going to look for.

-Orelsian accent for the protagonist would be bad for me, very bad.
-I really don't want to see another 'vanishes to may or may not return in the future' ending again.
-Fetch quests and side quests that don't really amount to anything other than xp/gold boosts.
-Pro mage or Templar story. I'd like an equal story with pros/cons on each side, not one side being clearly better path.
-Auto dialogue
-Amped up combat with no depth
-Shallow loot/item system
-Art style (Origins was bland and ][ was just bad; although the Champions mage armor was quite nice)
-Random boss fights to just have a boss fight (Orsino comes to mind)
-Poorly thought out antagonists (Meredith wasn't too bad till the fact the sword dictated her motives more than the character herself)

Just a few I can name off the top of my head that I'm looking out for.

Silly goose, without their abilities the normal people of Thedas are free game for magical Pol Pots/Jeffrey Dahmers, and demons.

The only worst case scenario i can think of is the game not being made, like Plaintiff said.

There is a bug in the game that causes my PC to overheat and catch on fire, which burns the house down.

There's a difference between people who can do that sort of thing and the actual Templar Order. The last is what I want to obliterate.
