The sad reality of the ME3 MP Playerbase

I have only 3 million saved, but anything I get over 3 million I spend on JEP and recruit packs to get gun rails. If another DLC does drop I have no need to get everything up to X on the first day - I'd rather enjoy playing with my current equipment with full consumables than save a mountain of credits. In case Bioware is looking at these posts, I always drop $75 in MS points every time there is a DLC released, because I like to support the game and its the only game I have played for the last six months ( don't buy any other games ).

I noticed when I started up Borderlands 2, it said "9 friends playing Borderlands 2." Most of my friends list is people I added specifically for ME3's MP, so yeah... realistically, the playerbase has taken a hit.
The game came out two days ago.
It's not even out in Europe until tomorrow ...

LOL, another post praising BL2, "high end players moved onto BL2" - **** this, I'm reporting this thread for garbage. The ME3 community is far from dead.
I'm not praising it by any means (even though it is awesome) i'm just saying that looking at my FL and 90% of team arelex has moved onto BL2. It has taken over a large portion of the ME3 playerbase. espicially the ones that were doing the teaching, carrying randoms, speed runs, etc. most have moved over to BL2. But please go ahead an report and waste BWs time. the fact you would bother to do so on a perfectly fine post shows how bad the community is getting. You don't see the irony?
LOL, so what team Arele-X is doing indicates what all "high-end" players are doing?
Not saying that, but when you play with randoms do you notice that 90% of them are terrible at the game? Thats the playerbase taht is gonna msotly be left.
Also By midnight my time (PST) most people were already moving onto BL2 and haven't gotten off. I had like 30 people on my FL yesterday playing BL2 compared to like 5 playing ME3 and they were doing the speedrun tournement
I don't really know what point you're trying to make to be honest. It's a hugely popular triple A title that was hyped up more than Jesus. Of course tons are going to be playing it 2 days after release. These people have sunk hundreds and hundreds of hours into ME3 multiplayer already, let's see how many hours they sink into BL2. From my point of view I could only do a few playthroughs of BL1 before I would get bored and move on to another game. All told I've probably got about 200 hours of BL1 playtime, I'm sure I've spent just that much if not more in the ME3 MP.
ME3's MP is not story-driven, this makes the replayability better than action-RPG's (like BL2) which are story driven.
I do agree with your point. I probably own't sink as many hours into BL2 MP as i did to ME3 MP. But for now i guess my point is the playerbase is gonna be pretty bad overall. at least until people stop playing BL2 online, but then you have AC, RE6, COD, Halo, Dead space all coming out in the coming months. I just don't think alot of people will return to ME3 I'll still play some ME3 but nto much, i guess my point is that finding a PUG will be tough and with most peoples friends moving onto BL2 finding a decent game will be tough

Oh god no, if I'm pugging on Glacier we normally get a much faster time if they camp in the control room. Better to have a central point for most enemies to head, and guaranteed blocked spawns allowing me to easily whip around the map and kill stuff then to have 3 other people trying to speedrun the map and only proving to be useless spawn blockers and enemy splitters.

If you have played me3 mp from the start what more is there to do? I have Gone through countless new class load outs and there isn't anything more to do in the multiplayer except for the weekend operations. It is an observation that a new game came out so yes the player base of an older game goes down. I have a problem with the really high goals bioware has put out with these operations when they know there are less payers on the game.
That and operations that require pure luck (ex complete 500k escorts when you have no control if you get any escorst during objective waves) and one's that require you to pretty much solo (ex don't use consumables. how am i supposed to know if a random uses an ops pack?)
and yeah I've played form the begining, maxed my manifest, had to handicap myself for a challenge, done speed runs etc. There isn't anything left for me to do. I played one game with the argus to try it out and it sucked and still scored 100k+ and it was easy. I need a new game mode, new enemy, new characters, new maps, new weapons etc.

I don't know why folk like to pledge allegiance to a single game for months at a time.
Nor do I understand the need for the folk that do;to announce they are leaving
the game for another. Maybe folk are just entitled these days.. at least the vocal are!

As much as I think BL1 was a very average game, its' sequel is a bigger release than GW2.
GW2 might be bigger on PC, but BL2 is cross platform(Xbox makes up the biggest population in most games except MMO and RTS). GW2 and ME3 also have much less target market overlap than ME3 and BL2 do.
For me personally GW2 was bigger, but overall BL2 will be bigger, even if it's just because of the Xbox crowd.

They are constantly making these high number allied objectives and it will keep ending in failure unless they increase the rate at which the enemies or objectives spawn. 600k atlases is a ridiculous number and we only have a chance to do it if they increase the atlas spawn rate.
We were failing one's liek these while msot people were playing 10-20 hours in a weekend. now with BL2 i doubt we even get close to that number. unless BW fudges the count

Other than that.. no. I dont have any other games in fact. But most the regulars I played with have almost all disappeared. I get massive lag from PUG games, so I dont really have a choice here, that and I dont like the constant nerfs of weapons - They are taking away my builds = taking away the fun.
I still dont think there'll be a new MP DLC coming. I think the game has already reached diminishing returns on revenue.

Sure, I'll play other stuff as well, but I have not seen any game that's out or up-and-coming that has characters nearly as interesting as ME3 MP.

On a more serious note, I hope the "new" players learn to play soon. I don't want to come back this weekend to a bunch of morons.

Anyways, they leave in droves, the active playerbase contracting in waves. Fortunately, ME3 is still popular enough to attract a stream or trickle of new players. Pray that never changes. It's truly depressing when a game's playerbase has shrunken to the point where new players have a very low chance of being driven to achieve veteran status before they lose interest, and the game's existing pool of veterans itself continues to shrink until only the hardest of hardcore holdouts remain. As someone who became a veteran of a game in the primacy of its death, I can safely say ME3 is far from that point.

No way... Rio. Rio has this magic box w/ ammo in the back where banshees and brutes atlases can't grab you and the only insta kill you need worry about is phantoms.... 1000x easier by god almighty! As long as you have 1 tanky character even whem all 3 go down they can pick up the rest... Just sucks when you have to leave your cubby hole for event waves... but thats the time for your team to cycle rocket fire

I've notice no difference playing with randoms. Even if they were worse, I have the gear to carry a gold match. But, people leaving for BL2 is a problem. Half my friends were added specifically for ME3 and only a handful still play.
I'm only playing BL2 because its new. I will hope on for weekend missions and plan on finishing my manifest. Most of my friends list was added for ME3 as well... and most of them are playing BL2. Doesn't mean I wont play ME and in fact I got a mass message just yesterday recruiting for some weekend platinum soooo....... Just because they are playing BL2 doesn't mean they wont ever play ME3. That uh, the great thing about game consoles --- you can play more than 1 game

Not to mention that PS3/PC will be completely unaffected by Halo since we don't get it, and neither of them have a history of giving much of a damn about Call of Duty.
Borderlands 2 on the other hand, is fairly big cross platform.
