ME MP is rather unique with all the powers and weird guns. It's definately got a niche in that department and I still enjoy playing it because of this.
Not so much.

This and all other posts comparing Borderlands 2 to ME3 are stupid. The games provide widely divergent experiences and satisfy divergent tastes. BL2 won't kill ME3 because it's not even competing for the same niche.

I'm honestly surprised at how few of my FL are playing BL2.
I had more people on my FL go back to Skyrim to play as vampires or build houses.

Who is comparing the games? People are simply making an observation about the changing playerbase in me3. What niche is me3 in?
I keep wondering about that myself. Most RPG shooters have a semi-random loot system where you get weapons of different power and rarity. ME3's MP even lets you choose what rarity you're trying for.UKStory135 wrote...
I really don't understand how a community that spends most of its time b*tching about RNG and OP weapons is overly worried about a game where RNG and OP weapons are it's entire point.

you are forgetting the way people think on the internet which is basically "everybody is wrong but me"

Why is everybody assuming that the entire playerbase will play Borderlands 2 and never play ME3 again?
Nobody's making that assumption. We've made observations; for many of us, most people on our friends lists are now playing Borderlands 2. Not sure about going back... I'll probably do at least 1 run this weekend for the op, but it's a SUPER repetitive game mode. If they release a DLC soon, I'm thinking that a lot of the playerbase will come back to at least check it out. I don't plan to abandon ME3 entirely, I just know that it isn't the thing I think to do when I turn on my xbox anymore.Draining Dragon wrote...

The only tactical gameplay I have seen in this game are games planned out around speedruns. Most PUGs have almost no teamwork and it is everyone go and do whatever. How is the game character driven(just need clarification)?

Borderlands 2... it's random in a bizarre way. Their weapon generator has certain characteristics that can be combined to create unique weapons, unique enough that it's actually a very, very uncommon occurance to see two of the same weapon. Most of them will still be scaled to where you're at in the game, though, and BECAUSE they're so random, you don't really hope for any one, specific thing when you open a chest or kill an enemy. You also don't have to purchase the possibility to get stuff, so the comparative value of a chest vs. a premium spectre pack is ridiculous.
Basically, I think it's because in BL2, EVERYTHING is super-random. ME3 MP, you can know what exactly you want in a pack, but you may never even see it. That's more frustrating than KNOWING that everything's a surprise.

I don't think that is what anyone is saying. Heck, I think Borderlands 2 will enjoy 1.5 months of popularity before the AAA+ games come in November. What everyone is simply saying is that there are a LOT of quality games coming in the next few months, and they will keep chipping away at the ME3 base. Then November comes and ME3 base will evaporate. By Christmas, people will be spending their time in Halo and Black Ops MP. I bet BL2 will also take a huge hit come Nov. It's not an ME3 only story.

I'm sure all the PS3 and PC players will be playing tons of Halo 4 =P

All tactical co-op shooters can be played with bad teamwork, just like ME3 PUGs. In bronze/silver, you're right, little to no tactics are necessary (for experienced players at least). Gold/platinum, the team co-ordination is much more like that of a tactical shooter, and is much harder to win if each person is doing his/her own thing.
As for the other point, what I meant was that ME3 MP's strength and focus are the character/class variety. There is no strict weapon restrictions or play styles. Each player develops his/her own characters and team synergies. In most other shooters, it's quickly obvious what role a particular character/class is designed to play, and there is very little room for deviation.
