I believe you could have an in-game wedding in Fable 3 and also in Skyrim, right? Are there any others? Unsure.

I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but there are other games that allow you to get married.

And if I'm not mistaken, Fallout 2 is the FIRST game to allow players to get married. FO2 came out in 1999, and there's this farmer named Chisholm in one area of the game, whose 19-25 year old children Miria and Davin (not entirely sure of their ages) who the player character can marry - irrespective of their gender or the chosen farmer's offspring's gender. You can also divorce them. I've only ever really married Miria, and it's fun just to see her reaction if you divorce her (in a different area of the game). She runs off crying. You can also have other sorts of fun at her expense (but I'm pretty sure Davin is harder to displease).

On topic: Yes, I would love to be able to have my PC marry their LI companion. I would have liked to see my female Human Noble, Rienna, marry Alistair. Instead of just assuming that it happened. It was disappointing since you can watch Alsitair and Anora get married. Though that may have been their being acknowledged as being the future rulers after the Blight, or something, but we never got that with Anora or Alistair and the Warden, anyway.

Me and Rinji were arguing about political marriages from beginning to end.A political marriage is that in which the parents marry off their children for land or other gain.It did not happen amongst peasants because there was nothing to gain. There is no such thing as loveless marriage in and of itself. When I said loveless marriage, I was speaking on the lack of love in a political marriage.Who would love someone they were traded to as compensation? Fail more

*ahem* "Rinji and I..."

Looking for a vanguard of the king's english on Bsn is probably not wise ;)

Please show me where "haz" appears in a reputable dictionary. I also took the liberty of fixing the intent of your statement.

Weddings are an unessential use of zots imho that can be used otherwise. Different story would be if a marriage has importance in the game and therefor needs to take place.

And as to the use op 'proper' english I'm not native english and know that there are a lot of mistakes in words and grammar that I write Image IPB.
See no need to think about that myself and don't think that people should pay much attention to others in that regard too. If the message that one sends is understood the spelling is not relevant. If not ask Image IPB.

So, we gonna debate the merits of a wedding as part of a romance arc, or snipe at each other?

Bioware does not believe in them.

Although a "Red Wedding" mission has enormous potential to be awesome. ;)

I think an engagement would work. I think an actual marriage would be something to save until after the world is out of crisis.

SHUT UP PEOPLE! Who cares who has bad English, and who doesn't? This is the internet! You will always find idiots who can't or won't make proper sense here! This thread is about the PC marrying characters. Not inane arguments about who's an idiot and who's not. If you are going to make such a stupid discussion (and I use the word loosely) go to the Off-Topic thread and get a mod to ban you or lock the thread, or both.

Given that romances are essentially "side quests"   in the game, would you object to a wedding as part of an individual character's romance?  Not a big lavish thing where picking out the flowers and arranging guest lists are done, but where  the romance may culminate in a proposal and a quick trip to a chantry, or a Keeper, or whatever?

I would like the option too. And if Bioware wants it to end either good or bad, depending on the player's actions, then all the better.

I agree with iakus. A small marriage that isn't a requirement to complete the game, is better. Though I would like to have a wedding quest that appears only if you romance the companions, or at least specific companions. One that feels satisfying and significant.

Who wants to be forced into getting married, when the idea around a role playing game, is to make your own descisions?

I would not like a wedding option, especially a Skyrim wedding option (basically a fetch quest where you throw an amulet at someone and say, "we're married now")

Bioware already has dysfunctional romance, we don't need dysfunctional marriage and dysfunctional divorce.

I wouldn't want a quest where I have to run over to a magistrate and settle an estate, custody and visitation schedules between a future viscountess and her crazed apostate former lover who blew up a Chantry.
