I am all for options. People want their protagonists to get married? Give them an option. They want to kill their hero? Let them. They want a maniac for companion? So be it.

The beauty of game is that it gives us options (or at least, it should). It certainly gets a lot of work from developers, but it is not impossible. I mean, how many people know that you can marry in Fallout 2? Does it make it worse of a game? :)

I know! In fact I've already said it, here in this very thread! Also, no it doesn't make it a worse game (even though FO2 is one of my top 5 all time favourite games so I might be a little biased, but it's true nonetheless), if anything it makes it a better game, because less people know of it (here), so it automatically becomes an underrated game, which means such an epic game is even better.

I think there should come a time when the LI or the protag. discusses getting married, whereupon the player can decide whether or not they want to. (AND NO BIOWARE, THAT DOES NOT GIVE YOU AN INVITATION TO MAKE 1 LI WHO DECIDES TO BREAK OFF THE ROMANCE BECAUSE THE PC WANTS TO GET MARRIED! People would just complain about how they can't marry that companion, anyway)

I support weddings.

Happy happy fun time weddings and "Red Weddings" if you A Song of Ice and Fire fans know what I mean.

The thread....lives! It actually inspired me to make this for the "da3 meme" thread:

Oh, don't worry. We will throw all the punches. Punching come standard. Possibly, if you buy the CE, David Gaider will come to your house to punch you in person.

I will also pet their hand afterwards, and coo to them softly to tell them everything will be better soon.

It's all part of the co-dependency thing we got going on here.

And *this* is why *I* love BioWare. I get that some folks love them some depressing, Japanese like story telling where it's all sadness and no Happily Ever After. However, fact is, there is plenty of that in the Real World. While I enjoy a rollercoster ride of emotional, gripping, even heartwrenching storytelling, I at least want the *option* to bring things to a close on a High Note. I don't want a game, especially an RPG, to remind me, "Hey, life sucks and sometimes there's nothing you can do about it."

Why would I want to escape from the Real World where there's plenty of all that and into a game that tells me...the exact same thing. I want to be the Hero, to make it right, save the world, get the girl, fulfill a great destiny and so on and so forth all while be rivited by the journey. Might sound cliche to some, but that's what I like and, sans one particular title, BioWare has always delivered that.

However I recognize that some folks like the opposite of all that, which is fine. My hope is that between Mary wanting to crush people's hearts and Gaider wanting to at least provide a defilbulator, we'll get options for both sides of the coin.

If the story allows for it? I wouldn't mind. A story like DA2 would have been the time to introduce weddings or marriage (even in a fade-to-black sort of way) since it was six years of Hawke killing time in the city they live in. (I mean, heck, you ask two LI's to move in and you live together for at least three years--might as well hire a priest to tie the knott). If the story is closer to DA:O where there's lots of action, travel, time crunches, being wanted, etc., then it might need to take a back seat.

Again, depends on the story and characters.

I mean, Aveline gets married on your estate, right? Oh, you could do an awkward LI "they're getting married!" convo! :pinched:

But I think the fury that would result from people who think the Bioware Romances are exclusively for overweight, sex deprived women who read "50 Shades of Grey" as opposed to other opportunites to add storytelling bits and plot arcs would preclude weddings, anywhere. Plus, resources. You don't want to exclude people from storylines too much because they didn't want to shack up with one particular LI.

Where enemies like Jamie Lannister can send their regards and mothers laugh?
