You still don't get it

People in Thedas don't need marriage to symbolize their commitment.  Marriage being for love only is a very recent development in our real life history.  Social expectations and morality in Thedas is completely and utterly different.

As if that wasn't painfully obvious *cough* witch hunt *cough*.What we are arguing here is why you think people need to avoid marriage like the plague and you are doing a poor example of presenting your case.

I like my game romances but I have  NO INTEREST in the developers wasting resources for weddings.

If I want that I'll play Skyrim or The Sims.

Skyrim's romances were the BEST.

"I see you are wearing a necklace. Although we have never had more than a 10-second conversation (and that one was about mammoth tusks), I think we should be married. Meet me there?"

And as you say "I do", your new spouse LITERALLY bursts from the room and vanishes into the night before you can even speak a word to them.

I'm not saying I want big crazy marriages and horrendously complex courting sub-games or anything, but if you're going to include romance, at least make it ... I dunno ... romantic.

Oh I agree.  They were pretty ridiculous in Skyrim.  And my husbands always ended up.....dying. :bandit:

They're a key aspect for marketing, but they amount to very little in-game. A poorly animated sex scene that last about 30 seconds isn't worth all the attention it's given. What you people are asking for already exists. It's called Fable. You can even get married online to other players.

I've bolded your personal opinion and it's a personal opionion because all the love struck starry eyed Fan girls making threads think quite the opposite of those statements. Why stop there? why don't we add dragons dogma and the witcher to the list of horrible repetitive unfeeling romances.I'd like to list the obvious issues with the whole player to player marriage thing but...obvious

That's great. Because nobody knew that was my personal opinion before you bolded it. Image IPB

Fan girls making threads about marriage and babies disagree with the idea that I find their idea of including a interactive soap opera in Dragon Age to be ridiculous. Seems like you're already stating the obvious.

Which brings us right back to their right (seen the sub-forums dedicated to romance?) and yours (where are the sub-forums for hating on romance?), Seems your the odd duckling out of place here, Boot :innocent:

I'm not imposing on anyone's rights, girl. Just expressing myself. Image IPB

I think that the devs are unlikely to spend any time on developing such a ceremony if there isn't a story-related reason. In other words, you're unlikely to see a wedding unless demons carry off the bride or a dragon sets fire to the Chantry.

I don't necessarily want the ability to marry all my LIs. As someone already said, saving the world takes up a lot of your time and marriage doesn't seem to fit. If it was done in the style of the Alistair/Cousland or Anora/Cousland wedding however, I'd be up for that. I'd also like to talk about the future with my LIs, but having a wedding...nah, not really.

And I honestly hope that the available LIs won't hook up with each other when neither is romanced. That is a purely selfish desire however. I simply don't want my favourite LI to hook up with someone else just because I decide to romance someone else in this playthrough. I'm mad possessive of my LIs, I'll admit that.

I'd love to attend an in-game wedding, but it doesn't have to be my own in the Dragon Age universe. *shrug*

The peasants of the European Middle Ages were 99% Catholic Christians.  Sexual relationships outside of marriage were a sin against God.  This was an era when everyone, especially the peasants, took the concept of sin very seriously.

Wrong and that's all I'll say about that without getting into a discussion on the churche's Iron grip.

You're arguing under the assumption that all marriage mechanics must exist that way. What if after a whole year of journeying and defeating the blight, the warden asked leliana to marry him, would that just be wish fullfillement? Would that lessen the romance? Keep in mind that these two have fought and struggled together for the whole ordeal.

Exactly, I never said when it should happen, just that it should. The video I linked is post origins. Why are kids and marriage restricted to the category of life sim? Fable and skyrim are Rpgs and the sims is a life simulator. These are two different genre with few similar aspects.

This must be what it feels like to BioWare devs when amateur volunteer forum game developers tell them how to do their job better.

She has proved them incorrect.  You just seem to have a reading comprehension issue or live in some alternate reality where world history is different.

Seeing Aveline's wedding would have been a great piece but sadly happened off-screen. So, I'd be open to it.

This is the only moment that  i can find a wedding being sensical during both games. It would be epic if your Hawke could troll the ceremony.

Furthermore, these 'romances' are just a cheap marketing ploy used by EA to attract female gamers who would otherwise play The Sims if the characters spoke a real language.

Wow! Sexism, much? I have a large group of male friends who are wholeheartedly driven by the romances in ME and Dragon Age. Yeah, only women are into that, huh? And since women like it, it must be a marketing ploy, rather than a new avenue of gaming. Anything women are interested in is bunk and stupid, right? Jeez.

I think a getting married option would be a nice little addition, but I certainly do not want resources spent on it if it's going to replace the effort of the dev team to focus on other romantic interactions. What I mean is that I don't need this huge sweeping wedding scene to take so much time and resources that it takes from the time and energy they have that they could have put into cutscenes showing our pc and their love interest "getting to know each other."

And a toolset that allows for modders to make cutscens would surely allow for fan made additions to what is already there.
