What bothered me in DA2 was the overeagerness of Anders to get in my pants and the lack of control i had over this event.

It literally felt like:

"Hey Anders, cheer up buddy, i have your back"

*You are now romantically involved with Anders*

On the other hands, in order to get Witch Girl even remotely interested in me, i had to face death itself and if i missed a single event, i could forget about the whole thing.

A little bit more realism in this would be appreciated.

I didn't know that it's mandatory for people to click on the heart icon. I play the game, and there are options to be friendly to him without getting into a romance with him.

Alternatively: "Oh no a man made a pass at me, the horror!"

Just tell him you aren't interested and resume being friends.  Not.  That.  Hard.

you didn't have to click on the heart icon. from second one when you meet him before pretty well any interaction he was forward in that manner. This was unlike other past romances that developed more slowly and felt very forced indeed. It felt like something you had to consciously avoid rather than conciously pursue.

It's not mandatory, but if the only options you get are

"**** off Anders, you are ugly and nobody likes you"

&

"Hey Sexy boy, why not talk about this in private" it's kind of annoying

You could say the same thing for every romance in the game. I have moments like that with both Fenris and Merrill.

That's not how it worked and you know it.
And there is no need to play the homophobia card, since we are talking about a videogame.

You fail to see the real problem, and that is that the character seemed to be written by a straight guy imagining what homosexuals are like. (Over eager and flaunting their sexuality from the get-go)

He hit on you, assertively, once.  He also takes it relatively badly if you shoot him down.

But you both can move on.  It's not that hard.

Also there totally is a need to play the homophobia card, if that's the motivation.  We'll have to see.

Hahahahahah.

Nah, it's called characterization.  Anders is a man of action, and doesn't deal well with non-acceptance.  These are aspects of his character that remain consistent, including relationships.

lol, I love this topic. People who are uncomfortable flirting with a fictional character, but so narcissistic that they don't want to reject him.

I think the issue is that originally the amount of rivalry for rejecting Anders was too high, and reduced in a patch. I think once it was patched, it was entirely innocuous.

I played the game for a few days after launch, finished it and never played it again, so i'm not aware of any patches.

So i apologize if this was not an issue in later version, but man, he was not a gentle lover in the first release.

Also, i stabbed him in the neck for being such a psycho all the time, but modern day journalism would have spun that into a hatecrime

Leaning closer toward the "homophobia card" being very appropriate.

You aren't stabbing a gay dude at the end of DA2, you're stabbing a terrorist.  Characterizing the act as a former is problematic.

I don't think there was a chance for a Bromance in DA2 like you can have with Alistair or Garrus. I strongly believe this has to be fixed.

No one faults you for stabbing him, hell, I almost want to stab him even though I romance him. The issue at that moment was that he destroyed the chantry, not that he likes guys. I don't see why people would call it a hatecrime.

Varric begs the differ. No one can come close to him, not even Alistair or Garrus.

The "witch girl"? are you talkin about morrigan? Because as much as i like her, and i like her a lot,  she was easy as hell.  our first night outa lothering and "lets get it on".

you're right about anders though. I liked Alistair a lot, he's my main bro, (and not because he's my dobbleganger) He was the chillest dude and funny, so if I could have another bro like that, that'd be great thanks( office space refrence)

as far as "realism" in the real world some people are easy and some people are...well not so easy thats realism dude. Some people are more eager to have sex plain and simple, and other people will simply find you or your character non-arousing so it'll take a lot to get them in bed. welcome to the world (where everythings made up and the points don't matter)

There is.  I had quite the bromance with Isabela and Varric.

Did we play the same game?

The options I had were

Diplo: Hawke says something supportive. Overcome by emotion at the thought of finding someone who doesn't instantly brand him a monster, Anders makes an obvious sexual advance on Hawke. Hawke turns him down, hurting his feelings. Whether Hawke feels flattered or offended is up to the player.

Sarcastic: Hawke says that people unload their troubles onto him all the time. It isn't the enthusiastic support that Anders hoped for, but it isn't "You're a monster!" either, so he tests the waters with a flirt. Hawke turns him down, hurting his feelings. Let's be realistic. Nobody thanks you for rejecting them.

Aggressive: Hawke calls Anders a monster. No flirting happens.

Resorting to hyperbole will not strengthen your case.

Merrill. I thought she was pretty easy to romance. Ironically, the hardest one to romance is Fenris, and he's a guy.

Less Eager bromance?
A bromance is two males who do things together that are datelike and are close but are not sexually involved with each other... so, I'm not really sure how Anders wanting (by your statement) to be your closest bro has anything to do with him trying to get in your pants.

That aside:
I don't really see Ander's as the character the devs created to be all over the PC. What I see is that it is part of Ander's personality. He just speaks in a flirting manner. There are many people who are like this. He talks to those close to him as if they are in a conspiracy. All his intereactions in DA:A do nothing but support his manner and even though he has changed a little in DAII with the coming together of him and Justice, he still has these mannerisms. He flirts certainly and compliments Hawke, but I think saying he tries to force his romantic needs on Hawke is not only not the case, but is a misrepresentation of who Anders is. Is he interested? Yes. Will he force it on you? No. Like many have said his romance is easy to avoid. Avoiding it doesn't change who Anders is though. He'll still acts like Anders. Anders will still try to get you to see his side of things, because to him Hawke is an important force in his life for six years.
