To those that still hate the ending, how much would an apology do?

My like is still there. Because I still like ME1 and ME2. I also completely forgot that thing even existed as I'm sure many people did. That Facebook page got very little coverage save for ONE occasion when somebody said that they had no plans to change the ending back during the first two weeks of the controversy and they had to wake up merizian at 3 AM as the page blew up and the "like" numbers you were touting dropped from the 2.7 million it was at (at least when I got there)

To 1.6 or so. One million people or so dropping their likes in little less than four hours or so speaks volumes. Especially when it all went down at like 11 PM eastern time when half the world was asleep.

I see the numbers have dropped even more since then.

So yeah....That poll really doesn't help. Especially since its tied to the other two games that people genuinely LIKE as opposed to this one that they all but despise.

Wait, that didn't actually happen, did it? 1.1 million drops in four hours that.... changes my view of things ever so slightly.

The extended cut was your apology.
Instead of just words, they actually fixed the ending.

Your definition of fixed and mine are miles apart.

Sure did. I'm fairly sure it was 1.1 million. Maybe 1.07 or something but I ain't gonna nitpick.

ME had upwards of 2 million likes on the facebook page for years.

Then *Looks at current number* The last ten minutes happened.

It would feel empty without a decent ending fix to back it up.
Actions speak louder than words.

It'd feel like they were just saying it to promote their next game like they did with DA2.

Vocal minority doesn't get in the mainstream news
. In fact I've seen people who defend Synthesis still hating the kid. Actually after 6 months to my recollection of reading this forum I can only remember a handful of people actually liking the dumb kid. Everyone else recognises it for what it is, lazy cop out Contact inspired kid, trying to explain everything in a half assed way.

Au contraire, the vocal minority almost always makes mainstream news. Generally because they are more radical than the calm majority. But in any case, the existence of a Reaper leader should have been obvious to anyone since Mass Effect 2, and arguably even Mass Effect 1. The fact that the Reapers, despite being composed of different species and having different minds, all supported the cycle of harvesting, heavily implies the existence of a higher power.

After Thessia and the meeting with Vendetta, well, if you still hadn't seen the Catalyst coming, well, you ought to be paying more attention.

Is this the level of sheer delusion the endings have triggered? Wow.

The EC was their apology, like it or not. The fallout was too great.

I'd say it was more like covering their ass. Hell the original ending doomed half the galaxy to starvation.

BULLSH*T there were just plotholes.

And yet here you all are, still posting about the game 7 months after its release.

I'd bet my paycheck that 90%+ of the people complaining here are high school age or younger.

Bioware should not have to apologise. What planet are you living on?

The way they continued to extoll the game as something amazing really grated on me. 75 Perfect Scores! I would be so satisfied if someone finally came out and admitted that Godchild was a horrible idea and that they hated the ending too. I don't expect it, though.

Why would they say the Catalyst sucked if they don't feel it did? Just to placate the vocal minority? No, they would lose a ton of credibility by saying that.

Prove that it's only the "vocal minority" who feel this way.

I believe they can be proud of their ending, more so than of many other aspects of the game.

The original ending was universally rejected by the fans for being badly done. It was simply unfinished and thoroughly incoherent and the onslaught was justified. Now the ending is polished and received its due attention, so the ideas they wanted to put in the game are faithfully conveyed. I still consider their ideas to be awfully bad ones, but the ending is no longer a bad product, it's instead a good product that clashes with my preferences.

The EC won them a great deal of respect back, though sadly only a bit of love.

An apology wouldn't go very far with me. While it would be nice to hear an admission of guilt it isn't going to change the fact that they screwed up big time and sold us a load of horse crap.

Apologise? For what? Bioware didn't do anything wrong, they gave me3 the ending they felt fit the game. Sure, many people may not like it and they are completly entitled to not like it but they do not have the right to demand a new ending. This is Bioware's game.

Actually, I'm quite sure we have the right to demand a new ending, given that we're not breaking any laws by doing so and it being a free speech matter. They in turn have a right to not give us that, and we in turn have a right to do everything in our power to bankrupt them.

It would be nice to hear Bioware admit they screwed up. At least it would make me think that they realize they goofed and they know there's room for improvement and they'll try to do better next time. I'd still be leery, but it would be helpful. As things stand right now, after both ME3 and TOR/Revan novel, I'm not convinced Bioware can write a conclusion to a story anymore. So I have no motivation to invest myself in the start of a new story if I have no faith in them to be able to finish it. JMO

I thought that the "so be it" big double middle finger...was the apology...

seriously tho..when they declined the cupcakes and made the "so be it" piece..I could see that they were entrenched on their idea of the ending.

to go out of your way...and spend money and resources to offend a portion of your fan base in retaliation, demonstrates a great deal to me about the character and integrity of the culture currently ruling bioware.
