I really want to know why you thought the endings were good.

I would recommend not thinking about the plot too much but you seem noobish enough so you probably don't care about plots and plot holes.

Better than caring too much.

I will never understand people who can look at the ending and the EC and honestly believe it's good.

So you've never met a single person in your life who likes/dislikes/believes something different from you?

Yeah, OP. These games are fantastic! You're going to see a lot of mixed feedback on these threads, but I, for one, am right there with you. Sign me up for more DLC and ME4... All of it. Glad you got to experience it!

Because I enjoy talking about Mass Effect. That's caring about the right amount, I think.

would you have preferred an 'Independence Day' ending?

I was thinking more along the lines of "The Dark Knight Rises"

The endings weren't bad to me and the OP (at least for me) because we were late to the show. I was not present for all the pre game hype of what was promised and what wasn't delivered. My first ending was the original Destroy. I was like "Oooooooookay?" but after the EC infeltnit was a vast improvement. The only thing I knew leading up to 3 was that many did not like the ending. I automatically took that as... "Alright Shep dies obviously" didn't really think about unresolved issues but as far as actual content I thought the game was well executed but maybe I'm still living off pure delirium of what I just experienced. Two solid weeks of nonstop play was crazy.

It's always good to hear opinions from people who weren't here regularly from the release to the EC (like me).

An Independence Day ending makes any story better. How much better would rom coms be if Will Smith busted in with one-liners blowing up starships? Bill Pullman speeches ftw!

Hacketts speech reminded me a bit of Pullman's speech actually.

At the very least, TDKR left Nolan's Batman movie franchise open for more and didn't kill any chance for sequels.

*cough*

leviathan, im pretty sure leviathan made the endings better. there they foreshadowed the star-brat a bit.

for the rest of us we got no mention of this and than glowing reaper-AI just comes out of nowhere (in the last five minutes) and trumps the reapers as the main threat, and completely ruins the entire mass effect series.

still think he should be scrapped completely.

That hardly makes them better. It just makes the Catalyst less of an asspull.

Will Smith should be in the next Mass Effect game.

*SPOILERS* Building up a powerful scene only to have Bruce Wayne mug the camera like a ton of proverbial bricks simultaneously smashed over every audience member's head? Not for me thanks.

My initial complaint was the lack of ME2 character involvement. FemSheps got the shaft with Jacob and Thane as far as I can tell. I was wishing fornmore Miri for my MaleShep. I think her story was intended to be the tragic love of loss, but I kept her alive and was glad they made it where she was my last memory of the EC (the original had Liara) and at my memorial I wish it had Miri but my bro Garrus did the honors, and at the evac I said my goodbyes to Liara who I valued as the next best thing to Miri as an awesome companion. So all in all, it played out like I could hope for as far as what was given.

The choices presented with RBG... I chose Blue at first because I viewed my Shep as the ultimate mediator and making peace with the Reapers was my final legacy BUT hated leaving Miri behind after I promised her I would come back. Plus many members of BSN made the argument about the Shepard losing Control and becoming the new antagonist presents a dilemma. So I view the Destroy as a more fulfilling ending because everyone in the universe hoped for the downfall of the reapers at any cost. They didn't ask to have their free will taken away by rewriting their DNA or having to work with the very enemy that took so much (Control) so Destroy I felt presented the most desirable outcome, even if it means poor Joker will have to lose EDI/Relays, but can't they be rebuilt?

Ah that's funny you say that. Because the breathe scene is essentially the same exact thing as tge ending scene in TDKR.....only difference is that you see his face.

What's wrong? You wanted Shepard to be sitting in a Cafe with your L.I.? Is that it? Lol

Besides, critically, TDKR was Christopher Nolans worst movie he's ever done(granted, most of his movies are amazing, so the bar is set quite high). It was a fitting conclusion to the trilogy, but hardly better than mediocre overall. And the ending? What a cliched 'happy-go-lucky' conclusion. I'm sure you wouldve hated it had that Disney scene not been thrown in right before the credits.

Thanks for letting me know your point of view though. I completely understand your perspective on things now.....

OP: To be fair I enjoyed the majority of the game, though I did find the planet scanning and Reaper dodging a bit tedious and yet guessed I would have to stick with it to give Shepard the best possible chance of fulfilling his mission. Like many people though, I was expecting a big showdown that did not materialise and was as confused as Shepard looked by the introduction of the Holokid. In the original endings, the explanation was truncated and the final scenes left a feeling of a lot of unresolved questions. The EC allowed at least some greater clarification of what your choices meant for the galaxy as well as Shepard and the epilogue scenes, for me at least. since by the time I downloaded it I had opted definitely for Destroy, did give a feeling of elation that I had finally freed the galaxy of the influence of the Reapers, so emphathised with the reaction of the various races and found the memorial wall scene moving. Since there had been so many hints during the game that Shepard was not going to survive, I was not unduly disappointed as he had died in a noble cause. I do feel that if the Developers had decided to back track on this and allow him to live, it should have been a bit more definite but was not unduly worried by this. However, it did not give me the great feeling that the end of ME2 did. That was epic.
As a matter of interest, which ending did you choose?
