So, we all know that the OC is capped at 20 and MOTB and SOZ are at 30.

However I was going through some of the 2DA's and I noticed the xp table goes on to 40.
Is there something to this?
Or is it just a shameless copy of NWN1's file?

It's a leftover from the NWN1 expansions.

NWN2 is over-stuffed with unused NWN1 content. Even the main TLK file seems to contain a lot of NWN1 creature descriptions and conversation strings. There are quite a lot of 2DA columns and rows that do nothing in NWN2 - and quite possibly a few entire 2DAs that aren't being used at all.

The game works up to level 40 for the most part, there is a block put in for the last expansion at level 30. Technically it's can bypassed, but it requires a PW and nwnx.

The powers that be basically made it more like 4.0 rules via house rules they added. They increased the benefits per epic level and thought this would make the players happy since at level 30 you are much the same power of level 40. ( which actually just made game balance issues worse )

The entire thought now is 10 low levels, 10 mid levels and 10 epic levels is how it should be done which is fine for some-but my idea of D&D is a game which is only limited by our imagination - if the DM is up to it higher levels there is no reason they cannot work well.

I prefer the epic levels in NWN1 really, it is slower in power gain, and it makes it so pre epic choices matter.
