Optional? What is this "optional" you speak of? Will it be forced on me, because I don't want that.

Thank you for nearly making me snort coffee over my keyboard there.

I'd love to see a female Qunari as a companion, mainly because their perspective is one that hasn't been covered by any character in the games before. Qunari are the race implied to have the biggest difference between male and female roles, and I'd like to see a female Qunari from a culturally appropriate position, to give more insight into that.

As a love interest, my initial reaction is no way, I don't really see how it would work, the cultural and physical differences are too great. But then I'm never going to be a decent writer and I can't help thinking a decent writer could take that and make it interesting. Even if it all went horribly wrong and led to embarassment, misunderstanding, and maybe multiple fractures and a restraining order.

A female Qunari would not romance a human, maybe you are talking about a female Kosith.

These are words that lead to many many pages of arguments over definitions aren't they? Let's take the notes of the previous one (or more) as read and I'll try and be more clear!

I mean female follower of the Qun who also belongs to a large and mostly horned race. And no I don't see how they would either. But then I don't write this stuff for a living, and it would be far from the most outlandish idea a good writer has taken and made work, and I'd be interested to see that. I'd be happy with it as a romance that in no way worked, just to see how it didn't work.

Honestly, I'd be happy with this too.

I just want to see a female Qunari as a companion and I think that a romance part would be really interesting. Qunari culture comes off to me as so impersonal, like everything they do is in pursuit of fulfilling their role within the Qun.

I know that seeing one of these strange people develop strong feelings towards the PC, their struggle to understand these feelings and then watching them try and act on their desires could be a very entertaining and perhaps even endearing thing to watch unfold.

All this talk about size difference and fractures is funny but in the end it really is just silly. Not to mention irrelevant as Bioware does not put much work into the physical side of the romance in these games. It's the emotional bit that I yearn to see, even if in the end, it doesn't work out.

I think it is worth a shot. She could be a great companion for one and besides Captain Kirk made out with aliens, why can't a human make out with the Qunari?

Actually, they would have to be tal-vashoth. Kossith applies to either, most of which would be Qunari.

More on topic, it sounds like some people wouldn't mind something like Samara's half-romance from ME2. I was pissed when she finally shut me down. I don't think I'd like the illusion of a possible romance, only to have the door shut at the last second.

Or he/she could come from the pre-Qunari Kossith empire across the sea, freak survivor of a wreck cast off course by a storm ... that sort of thing.

From the lore the richer parts of that society seemed a bit more hedonistic, which nicely sidesteps the slightly boring I'm So Serious angle established for Qunari and Tal'Vashoth ... which would quickly turn the romance into Viconia redux (although most of the audience probably never experienced that, but David asked how it could be interesting to write).

Ok lets get this aruement overwith plz, this has already happeend at least 2-3 times ont he forums and I think one already on this thread.

considering we have little IN GAME knowlage of the name of the race the "dominate speices that follow the Qun" is really called, lets not start splitting hairs over it. I understood what the poster ment and IMO does not need to be corrected.

Unless you work for Bioware story department. We dont need to go into uber-nerd mode in correcting people K?

Huh, what? I wasn't correcting him ... Tal Vashoth are people formerly of the Qun who rejected it.

I was saying that members of the original society which spawned the Qun were a third alternative.

What about "Qunari" who were raised outside the Qun's influence? My ideal female Qunari companion/love interest is one raised by elves or humans.

Always possible too, although even more cliche than my shipwrecked one :)

I'd love to see a female qunari in DA3, in any role. Companion, villain, character of interest, whatever. It mostly stems from curiosity, I suppose. The only one that has been shown(other than concept art) is Rasaan in Those Who Speak, and we learn very little about her... Which I guess is par for the course, when it comes to qunari, haha.

You got to admit though: seeing a Qunari calling an elf Dad would be both interesting and funny.

this would be so interesting - even more so, because i think that (i have said this already and in this topic to if memory serves) the Qunari we know are only some kind of "outcasts" to their real people (who might even be worse then them in some aspects?) that would explain why even with their sophisticated ships (sophisticated for Thedas - not our kind of sophisticated of course) that they have no contact to their homeland (the ships sent their might simply have been destroyed and the crews killed so that they can not return home and tell the outcasts about their old homeland because they might come back with plans of conquering it?

so yes, a character from the original homelands of the horned people of whom most we know of follow a communist-borg like doctrine would be a nice break (i love lore, and this is lore in its purest form: an actual eye-witness i can question about her people :)

greetings LAX
ps: that would make a nice story for DA4 to explore then (making contact with the original horned people and maybe even getting them to help deal with their outcasts)

I actually think being raised in the Qun results in a lack of romantic interest altogether. It might be biological, though. If so, I think we're just SOL.

It will be similar to Grunt's ME 2 loyalty mission.

"Inquisitor, the Qun has issued 130 breeding requests from you. ...and one has been issued for your Mabari".

:P

As long as they don't do what they did with mass effect, show them in a dlc where you only get 1 turian female...who spoiler dodging, doesn't have any major impact on the game after dlc, i'd much rather see a city full of female kossith even on an npc rather than a short term companion who isn't given the time to fully develop :/

On a side note, good dlc slightly pricey tho =)
