Yeah, but it's been incredibly disparate for each of the games. Every single substantial release has had 1 dwarf companion. No more, no less. (Oghren, Sigrun, and Varric). The Sin wrote...
Yes...Both DA games don't have that many non human strong warrior-like female who is a follower & a LI. I mean we had Morrigan, Wynne & Aveline who are strong women but they are human.
Sure we have Velanna,Sigrun & Tallis but these were all not in the vanilla game. They were only in the expansions...
In light of the main character being a human, the followers' should be balanced in terms of race, gender & class... I would prefer if we don't get many human followers, maybe 1 or 2 ...
Elves, we've had small amounts all around. One in each of Origins and Awakening, two in 2. And only a single Qunari ever.
It's always been overwelmingly stilted in the direction of Humans over all other races, and I don't like that. I want diversity, damn it!
EDIT: Actually, I forgot that Oghren was available in Awakening as well, so that one broke the mold by having TWO Dwarven companions.
Let's go by numbers, for the sake of it. Non-human to Human ratio.
Origins - 5:5 (Dog, Oghren, Shale, Sten, Zevran : Alistair, Leilana, Loghain, Morrigan, Wynne)
Awakening - 3:3 (Oghren, Sigrun, Velanna : Anders, Justice, Nathaniel)
DA2 - 3:5 (Fenris, Merril, Varric : Anders, Aveline, Bethany/Carver, Isabella, Sebastian)
Correct me on any of these numbers if I'm wrong, please, but it annoys me a lot that there have been as many of -- or more than -- humans than all the other races combined in each of the games.
Interesting observation there. I wonder if Bioware also knows we've had two dwarves companions and only one Qunari?
