A better question is this: Why are people treating a feature requested to be in a game like a plague?

Artistic pretension. In my opinion it's just a harmless bit of VN gameplay with some soft soft porn (the quality of which has been going downhill since ME1). Some people finds any suggestion they are selling the game partly on sex as offensive though, which to me seems a really unhealthy pretension.

They sell their games partly on sex. I know it's only part of the romance, not a pay off, blah blah blah, it's still there. Mr. Gaider thinks that accomodating the turn ons of his customers makes him a virtual pimp ... I think that ship sailed when they decided to accomodate the LGBT part of their customers (which I don't think was a bad thing either I should add).

Just embrace the pimpness mr. Gaider, to do otherwise just leads to self-hatred ... the reality is as it is, sex sells and you want sell games. We might not get this kink in the game, but we all know there are some which you aren't allow to ignore. The Waifu/husbandu crowd is just too important.

A desire demon is pushing it, but what's the lore problem with a female Tal Vashoth or non Qunari Kossith from outside Thedas?

Lets remember we've had cross species romances in this series between dwarves and other races already.

There won't be any demon companions of any type in DAI.
Nor will there be any romanceable female tal vashoth party members, Gaider has said there won't be.

Pity you can't even wed team mates during game, not some big ceremony at the end when you save the day, but something during game, so you can wear rings and if one of you dies.. It will hurt more..

hm...i would not like that at all (yes if it is needed for the story (like if you marry Anora) then yes, there should be a ceremony (a small one when it is happening and a bigger one at the end of the game or at least mentioned in an epilogue-slide) but otherwise no (or at least it should not be mandatory and the player should not be "punished" for not marrying - sorry i am sensitive about that issue as my father and stepmother both have had nasty divorces (both were cheated on) and i have a dislike for marriage because of that :(

Doubt it; Gaider said he doesn't want put it in the game to pander to fetishes or something. We got to sleep with some nugs in Origins. They obviously don't care too much about fetish things lol

But then, this is the same guy who said to all the chicks that didn't like Tallis is because we're jealous of her so go figure.

I think if we ever put a female Qunari into the game, I'd have to make her non-romanceable almost on principle. Just because it would be funnier that way.

PC: (picks heart icon) How YOU doin'?
femQunari: *blank stare*
PC: What's wrong?
femQunari: I mean no offense. You are simply very... small.

cue Sad Hulk music.

I agree. What female qunari will find a puny human attractive?

That, or she could be the hardest love interest to get.  Like, the PC would need to be REALLY BADASS with a reeeeeally high Aproval Rating to get her attencion.

Couldn't you make the same case for dwarves?

One a little less square.

Any way DA:O makes this argument moot, lots of cross race dwarven romances.

Dragon Age isn't a date game, if you say you want a Kossith as LI wheter it is tal-vashot or not you're essentially asking for it because it appeals your eyes and that's why Gaider said no and that's why I love the team and the saga: there are brain behind all that, not hormones

That's in the eye of the beholder ... and distasteful to mr. Gaider as it is, I don't think he can completely ignore the beholders who pay for his games.

Money partly motivates that brain as well ... which is not to say I think we will get the Kossith LI (well, maybe a male one just to screw with us a little ... which I really wouldn't mind either) because in the big scheme of things my kink just doesn't matter much. He can't ignore the waifu/husbando crowd (nor the LGBT one) entirely at this point though.

They created their own "monster" in that respect ... as I said before, it would do mr. Gaider well to be comfortable in his position as virtual pimp (although personally I would have picked romance writer, it's a little less tendentious title). Hating what you do is not healthy.

PS. Jonata : I'd sooner call it a sentient fish, but yeah that's Namor in a rather e-famous cartoon ... "Namor is nothing if not cosmopolitan in his tastes".

Again, DA isn't a date game.

Gaider and his team are writing the story of Thedas during the dragon age, the game isn't about love stories around Thedas. The general feeling I got from your post is that IYO the romance events in DA are more important than anything else. I hope I'm wrong and that I didn't understand what you wanted to say, because if that's the case you will be disappointed, because if Bioware wanted to do something popular they would have just do what the witcher did with romance: lots of hardcore sex, women as trading cards etc. They want to do something good, and that's why so many people like this game so much even without fanservice.

You can talk for yourself, but saying that your point of view is the "beholders" one is wrong. Everyone voice their own opinions. I'm also a beholder paying for this game and I don't care if there's a Kossith LI or not, I'm eager to know what happens next, not what next LIs are. I love romances in DA, but that isn't what the game is about.

Gaider loves what he does (I hope, he seems quite fond of DA) but he and his team (let's not forget the other amazing bioware writers) isn't doing a date game, is that what you didn't understand yet.

It would be enlightening for me to hear your definition of a dating game. I'd call a dating game one which plays out courtship with game mechanics ... Bioware definitely does that with all it's games in recent history.

I wouldn't say more important, but more memorable (which I think is a bit of an indictment of DA writing).

because if Bioware wanted to do something popular they would have just do what the witcher did with romance: lots of hardcore sex, women as trading cards etc.

It was a lark and it was funny to me, it also was skipped in Witcher 2. Bioware games are much more dating games than either of the Witcher games were BTW.

They want to do something good, and that's why so many people like this game so much even without fanservice.

Haha.
