No, Hawke's story is done, just like the wardens.

Hell no. At best he should be the Warden's waterboy
Regardles of whether you like or hate Hawke he is still very good at his profession just like the Warden, hard to believe they wouldn't be moving up in the world while this Inquisitor guy starts from level one and begins his own journey to power.
The story will be a total mess come DA 4 if they don't resolve this issue because they'll need to intergrate Wardens, Hawkes and Inquisitors... unless they want to continue the messy story and just have the Inquisitor disappear too, perhaps he can end up trapped under rubble and give a half breath?
I'd love to explain the issue with the story by placing a Warden and Hawke toy on a table "hmm, mate I'm not sure how I'm going to tie these games together... stuff it" (throwing them over my shoulder) "they disappeared".

I would like to hear where they disappeared to, but that could be told to my new character by an NPC or even put in the codex.

Good at his profession? Well, I guess, if you draw the line at "bum around Kirkwall, doing odd-jobs for cash".
Keeping the peace - no
Defusing factional tensions - no
Stopping his numbskull companions from making things worse - no
Looking out for his family - Hell no.
I kinda hope one of the various groups hunting him down will stuff him in a sack and throw it off a brdge.

Jokes aside, I think he should be left behind, as the Warden. If he has major in the next game, there's a possibility that he'll act in a way that the players don't want, and this will ****** off the players (imagine if someone roleplayed a Hawke that was pro-mage and wanted to destroy the Templars and/or the Chantry, and Hawke in DA3 is a key player for reaching a peace between the three factions).

Well, seeing how he helped ignite the Templar/Mage war, I would certainly hope so.
Same here. Hawke and Anders were there at the start. They should show up on DA3

My Hawke is laying low somewhere. With Anders. I don't think she'd want to drag herself into another battle, unless it was self-defence. Though she might if it involved Sebastian...
Anders would not agree to lay low.
Unless there was a very good reason, like protect a Hawke pregnant with his kid

I also think it would be out of character for Hawke.
