Am I the only one who doesn't want returning characters as companions?
I would love to just have a completely new group of characters to get to know.

That could actually be sort of cool, having an amnesiac companion with no self identity whos personality changes based on their observation of your actions in the world and what you personally say to them.

When I read the title I thought you meant a companion that had no personality what so ever and was just an empty shell waiting to be shaped by your hands, like one of the dolls from Dollhouse.

It depends entirely on the character. If there's a character that has been built for future development, like Sebastian Vael or Cassandra Pentaghast, then I would fully expect to see them return with a relatively large role - Be it as companion, antagonist or major contributing NPC.Am I the only one who doesn't want returning characters as companions?
If the characters are brought back purely for the sake of it, with no build up or development potential, then I agree with you - I'd rather see new companions.

As far as characters never before seen go, I don't want every companion to be new.

Having returning characters due to fan service is part of a prescription for failure a la the cameos and returns in DA2. Inevitably there will be disappointment because the character's look has changed because of the new engine. Bioware writes great characters and discovering new ones is half the fun. Let them surprise us again!

huh? that's not why there would be disappointment, the only reason there would be disappointment is if bioware wrote them in poorly. If it makes sense there is no reason to not bring back their best characters.
