This is the official Darkspawn Companion Thread. As I discovered, some of us want a darkspawn companion with many of them explaining that he would wear heavy body armor so people wouldn't kill him on sight and wouldn't taint the party.

Talk about what you want outta him.

As several wise individuals have said before doing something amazing, 'Why the hell not!". Just for the love of good do not make it an LI.

No, the darkspawn are a plague that must be eradicated.

I know this has been mentioned before, and if I am wrong pleases correct, but:

Don't darkspawn eventually make everyone around them who is not a Grey Warden sick? I'm pretty sure this would kill or transform ('ghoulify') the entire party.

There's about half-dozen ways we can fix that.

Really?

Do list!

EDIT: As long as they don't involve a bubble suit .

It wouldn`t make sense given what we know about darkspawn.

On the topic of spawns, give us a Bhaalspawn companion too!

Edit: Joking aside, I would be down with this.

He could be a re-spawn, like the ones in DA2.

Well there are intelligent darkspawn that are benevolent. If you spare 'the Messager' in Awakening the epilogue says he runs around preforming good deeds from the anonymity of a hooded cloak...the only problem is there are isolated case of the taint breaking out where ever he happens to go.

Avoiding Contact
Constant Application of Special Oil
Constant Application of Barrier Magic
Enchanted Amulet
Genetic Mutation
Scientific Experimentation by the Architect

There, six reasons.

Maybe he found a way to fix that

Then he can tell us that he would have spearheaded the attack on Denerim had the Architect not recruited him and we'll realize that he was the star of the Darkspawn Chronicles DLC :o

Avoiding contact seems kind of flimsy because I don't think you need to touch them to catch the taint; just being around them for an extended period of time is enough.

Genetic mutation doesn't sound like enough because I think the taint is magic, but if you include the Architect's meddling that's more convincing.

Magical oils, barries, and amulets all sound good although those are all basically the same thing.

Okay, I'm sold. :D

It would have to depend on how you played Awakening. If you killed the Architect then it shouldn't be possible. I know it's a different protagonist but it should still have repercussions.

But no matter what you chose, the Architect did exist for a period of time. Could've happened then.

I don't think Bioware really let you kill the Architect.

Sure, you slashed him and looted his body... but DID you? Did you REALLY? A darkspawn so intelligent and educated in magic that he warped the rules of the taint and found and awake an Archdemon? He puts most Bond villains to shame... I don't think he really let the Warden kill him, I think he may have LET the Warden think that. He's too interesting of a villain to kill, so even if you did, I'm betting Bioware will say you didn't - just think Flemeth.

All that aside, I'd take a Darkspawn Companion. It would be amazing if you also had a Grey Warden companion, and the two would have the possibility for some VERY interesting banter/interaction.

I'd like to see him be a magic user, since being a warrior type would be a little to predictable and stale. I'd also be interested to see him be a Shriek or a Genlock instead of a Hurlock (although it could go either way). Oh, and since the taint powers the darkspawn magic, I'd like to see some VERY different magic/skill trees.

Being a Disciple is prone to having unique skills. Maybe he was a Hurlock Omega and is the closest thing a darkspawn can be an Arcane Warrior?

I'm all for the idea but if you killed the Architect then it makes more sense (to me) that his followers see his death as evidence that they cannot peacefully co exist with the other races. The Mother's followers should be an enemy at some point but wether the Architect lived or died should factor into wether the possible companion and darspawn force would join you or not.

I don't think it's wise to allow a companion that wants to eat one's flesh into one's company.

It's possible he spends his time hunting at the camp for food.

You know that is a very good point.

I mean if Flemeth could manage to cook up a ressurection amulet, I'm sure he could pull off something similar (thought it proabably would be A LOT more disgusting). Also while his mannerisms often seemed harmless, we know he is as cold and calculating as they come; so its hard to believe that he would make himself vulnerable to the Warden unless he had an ace up his sleeve.

Also for a possible darkspawn companion idea: What about some kind of immature brood mother? She would be like the Mother only much less bloated and have something more reminiscent to legs. She could tie in well with early Architect experiment idea.
