Eh, replay the mage intros for DAO. He's interested/obsessed with a female mage, but doesn't really express anythng for a male mage iirc.

And Anders was all gunho for pretty women, harems and a wife to keep house in DAA. Means little.
The more options for everyone the better.
Imagine if Da2 only allowed Merril as a romace interest for male Hawke's...not everyone loved her or even liked her or thought of her as anything but a youngster/lil sis type.
