And Anders was all gunho for pretty women, harems and a wife to keep house in DAA. Means little.

The more options for everyone the better.

Imagine if Da2 only allowed Merril as a romace interest for male Hawke's...not everyone loved her or even liked her or thought of her as anything but a youngster/lil sis type.

I agree. They don't have a lot of LIs in DA. In DAO, the only M/M romance I could have is Zevran, and I can't stand anything about him.  <_<

I was not on any DA related forums preDA2 release, so I don't know what was said.  Though I personally didn't care for the "everyone will sleep with Hawke" thing that developed in DA2.  Except Sebastion and the awesome dwarf.

I'm not saying that he won't be either gender romanceable (assuming he is ingame as a companion), just that it is out of character with what we know of him so far.

edit:  I prefer to have some character to not be romancable by both genders.  I don't feel it really hurts the story and it helps differenciate between play thoughs.  I don't feel there was a issue with Alistar or Morrigan being hetro only.  Though I don't think there was a same sex only chareacter.  Was Oghren hetro only?  I never did romance him.

Do you know a lot of bisexual guys? Some of them like guys and girls differently. I know someone who has no trouble talking to guys but very akward around girls. Bisexual characters are not always ****ty like Zevran.

Neither does it really hurt the story to have every LI romanceable by both genders, in my mind at least. And the issue with Alistair being hetero only is that I couldn't romance him with my canon male warden . And there was definitely no same-sex only character. And Oghren was not romanceable.

Oghren had to be romanceable, there is an achivment for it on xbox.  Though it may have been female dwarf only. (Or i could be crazy)

I guess it just gets boring to me to have every companion be romanceable by any PC.  For example, I don't think Garrus was hurt as a character for not swinging both ways. 

I just don't find it believable that anyone who gets to know your PC would be willing to sleep with your PC.  Yes, I know this is a fantasy world with dragons and magic, but there are still rules and concequenses in the DA universe and some similarities to medievil Europe.

But different opinions are different.  As I'm getting off topic (and derailing the thread) I'll stop posting and everyoen can get back to expressing how awesome Cullen is.

It's very realistic to make some compagnon are hetero and for the fanbase we make all bi for have no jealous ! For me for a game realistic I am ok with some variety colors humans, sexuality : gay, hetero, but please don't make again all bi I prefer the romance as Mass effect 3 !

Sure, why not? I think Allan posted in another thread about why it's easier on the devs in terms of resources to have characters bisexual, and to just consider it a meta sort of game mechanic instead of letting it get under our skin.

Oghren was not a love interest.  You are crazy.

Having said that, my personal opinion is that something was lost in the first game as a direct result of the LI's not being available to wardens of both genders.  I lucked out, I happen to really like Leliana and Zevran, but you don't need to be on these forums long to figure out that they weren't everyone's favorites.

Some people considered Leliana to be unforgivably hypocritical, and I don't even want to repeat half the things said about Zevran.  Unfortunately, for those of us determined to play as gay/bi wardens because DA is one of the only franchises to afford us this opportunity, they are the only meaningful options.

Hetero wardens, on the other hand, get two picks.  Don't like Leliana?  There is Morrigan.  Don't like Zevran?  There is Alistair.

And yes, that's life, but you know what else is true about life?  If someone turns me down, I can move on to someone else.  My options aren't 1/1 or 1/2, so long as I am willing to continue looking, I don't have to settle for that one girl who wants to put my eyelashes in a jar because the brunette I really fancied rejected me.

Dragon Age is already 'unrealistic' in the romance department by restricting the number of people you can have a meaningful, romantic relationship with down to 4.  Those 4 might as well be accessible to everyone.

If it's a Bioware game I always assume any new character introduced will probably be bi. Especially in the Dragon Age universe. I would honestly be surprised if Cullen was in there as a heterosexual only romance option.

I think that I heard somewhere that actually the characters of DA2 are not bi (except from isabella) - so if you play male hawke then fenris is gay - if you play female hawke fenris will be straight

I like to think of it that way and then have all the LIs romancable by either gender so im not forced to play a dude in order to experience f.x. the morrigan LI

Well, every romance I had in DA2 was a homosexual one; my female Warrior and Rogue went with Merril and Isabela respectively and my male Mage and Rogue wen with Anders and Fenris.
