I think, given the ginormous wish lists we've been throwing at the devs, they'll take the route of least resistance and make all the LIs bi. As randomlycosmic pointed out, it doesn't affect anything in the game except their romances.

I would prefer it that he wasn't Bi, but the devs will probably pull another DA2 and make all LI bi for the sake of time and money.

I loved the fact that all DA2 romanceable characters but Sebastion were open to everyone. I also loved the fact that there was one character (Aveline) you could flirt with but she was so not into you! I hope this continues in DAI. So yes, Cullen, if he is indeed a companion and we can romance him, should be available to a male protagonist.

As Cullen seems to be the most popular with guys and gals, I hope he's bisexual. I don't care if they make another character specially for the lady like Sebastian, but I have been locking on Cullen to be my LI in DA3. I was so happy when they give gaymers Kaidan. I couldn't imagine romancing Cortez because he's just not my type. Unfortunately, my Warden has to be stuck with Zevran with no other choice for s/s romance. I feel like it will broaden the experience of everyone by making more selectable LIs. I really hope it happens.

That was the experience I had playing a male Warden in DA:O. Neither female LI appealed to me, so my Warden hooked up with Zevran. Fortunately, I liked Zevran, but I would *really* have liked to have been able to romance Alistair with a male Warden.

Leave straight characters straight.

What next?

Alistair M/M romance?

Sebastian was the only "romance" in DA2 who had one preference and it not only added to his character but his personality too. If he's back in DA3 and is suddenly swinging both ways then that just makes no sense.

Also Cullen never hit on a male mage in Origns so how can he suddenly be bi in DA3?

"I realized I liked men too and I want your ass Inquisitor. I want it and I want you."

Please BSN. Don't be silly.

If Cullen is bi in DA3 then Bioware better make Anders asexual in DA3 just to balance things. Meanwhile Isabella better be heterosexual and less promiscuous.

I support Cullen for M/M but not for M/M romance.

Leave straight characters straight.

Cullen's never said he doesn't like men. He can't be conclusively assumed to be straight. It's entirely possible that he just never liked the male mage PC that way.

Why?

Maybe it's a possibility too that he doesn't even have a sexual drive and only had a platonic love for the female PC and is actually a celibate asexual who finds men (including himself) disgusting.

Perhaps, but it'll ****** off a great deal of fans. Having him be bisexual will please more than it annoys, and I suspect a lot of the ones who would have been annoyed left due to DA2 already. Quite frankly, your demographic isn't worth appeasing.

Leave straight characters straight.

If we were discussing Sebastian Vael, I might agree with you - Considering, not only his complete lack of interest in Male Hawke, but also that he went through a period of sexual deviance and never once mentions that there were men among his many conquests.

However, Xilizhra is right - Cullen has never been established as a straight character. We know nothing beyond the fact he may, or may not, have had a crush on Female Mage Warden Number 552. It's perfectly viable that he may be bi-sexual, gay, or even celibate.

Neither is yours or have you forgotten how DA2 went?

There's a reason Origins was more successful.

Better gameplay.
Better story.
Better characters.

The characters were better because they were unique and had depth. Making everyone one-sided and bisexual (DA2) isn't a good way to make characters and Bioware didn't repeat that mistake in Mass Effect 3 where you have strictly gay and hetro characters (along with bi ones).

One of the great things about Dragon age is replayability.  Can't do something this play through?  Make different choices so it can happen in the next.

You have to remember that BSN logic is "If he never jumps up and shouts "HEY EVERYONE I ONLY LIKE WOMEN!" at the top of his voice, then he's probably bisexual.

ME3 completely glossed over most past relationships and it wasn't deemed worth the ability to start new ones with most of them, gay or otherwise, though you could with Kaidan. Also, bisexuality didn't harm anyone's character in DA2 (I didn't see any of them as being that lacking in depth in comparison to Origins either). Face it, your side has lost.

The opposite can also be said of the S/S club, can't it?

What's the S/S club?

Single sex?

Masturbation then?

Never knew Dragon Age featured a romantic interest with yourself...

Nope. If your argument was true then Kaidan wouldn't have been made bisexual whatsoever.

ME also seems to have suffered from a more regressive writing team that wanted to expend fewer resources on homosexual relationships. Shame, but a past shame now. I'm confident that DA3 will follow DA2's pattern, and that the story won't suffer from it.

Woops, my bad. I thought Zkyire was supporting that Cullen might be bisexual. I'll go remove that post now.

BTW, I'm sure you already know what S/S stands for

Then emerge from them saying "I got better" with a big stupid smile on his face. Then he should be forced upon the player as a companion who can *never* be removed from the party along with another templar who is a religious extemist who constantly preaches about The Maker and how much mages deserve to die.

Add these two things Bioware and I will pre-order DA3 without any doubts.

"Mages suck."

"I hate mages."

"Mages should die."

C'mon Gaider. Make it happen.

-Zkyire

If they ever write a book called "Understanding the BSN" this sentence would undoubtedly be in the preface. To get back to the topic. Would it make much sense for Cullen to swing both ways? No, not really. But it didn't make sense for Anders either and they did it anyway. I don't believe they've confirmed it one way or the other but Gaider's mentioned it being "low cost" so I think we can assume all LI's will be player sexual from here on out.
