@ErrorTagUnknown: You get shunned when you say you play silver? I play bronze... Shun City here.
This.
My Margaritaville is trying all sorts of different character builds, mods and weapons, and playing them on Bronze. Some spec and mod mixes I come up with myself, some others suggest, some as a result of balance changes. I promote all the time, so I don't need respec cards (save those for specs that don't include the default point Bioware assigns to a level 1 character).
Rarely play silver, ususally with a decent pug that decides to move up from Bronze. Even more rare to play Gold, usually a progression with a pug, if I have a reasonably high level character with a decent spec. Have never intentionally played Platinum.
I also won't claim to be an elite, because I'm not. I'm a decent player and I enjoy being a good teammate while I play whatever it is I am playing that day. But I do love the game, I have a blast. Part of the genius of this game is that someone like me, who is maybe a bit of an outlier, can enjoy the game on Bronze, while someone with entirely different set of expectations can have a blast on Silver, Gold or Platinum.

I probably play as much (or almost as much) silver as I do gold. Mostly because I like using funny loadouts and builds (melee QFI anyone?).
Yup Im gonna do it!

Due to a glitch, sabotage's 50% tech damage multiplier actually affects melee damage as well (source).
So melee QFI? SRS BSNS GAIZ.

A lot more is viable than isn't.
There's no need to burn consumeable bonus equipment there if you have a good weapon or two. Just slap on some appropriate gear, and you're set.

Sometimes I play gold, but plat doesn't interest me.

I've played with this guy and he's being a little modest. I'd say he's at least semi-elite.Grinch57 wrote...

Interestingly enough sometimes silver is not so easy if the squadmates are inexperienced, having terrible/funny chars & loadouts or just plain bad. In a sense that with a good team gold would be easier.
Oh, and this is playing pug's only

It's called playing for fun.
Any weapon combo you feel like
Spam Powers? Why not.
You revive the same low level player 10 times? Well hey, at least you get a badge!
SS out of the extraction zone just at the wrong time (Oops!) LMAO
Keep using Stasis on a Banshee even though you know it does nothing
Use some of the worst weapons in ME, just because you've never tried them before.
Spec a Krogan with a Sniper Rifle and a Pistol - because you can
and hardly ever get kicked unless you're AWOL from the lobby or being offensive.
I've seen far more very high ranked players in Silver recently. Maybe others are embracing the fun factor too.
Silver welcomes fun seekers.
