I have Wraith at level VII, but I never use it. The reason is that I think Reegar, Piranha, Claymore and Talon always do a better job than Wraith.

So I consider Wraith the worst Ultra-Rare (pretty much useless) and I think it really deserves a buff. I saw, however, some people saying that it is good the way it is. So I'd like to know if anyone would choose Wraith instead of Reegar, Piranha, Claymore and Talon for any class/build for any reason other than not having one of those weapons.

I'd really like to use mine, so if anyone gives a good suggestion, I'd be happy to hear.

Try it on the Batarian Soldier. Synergizes quite well with his blades.

Honestly, because PUGs are so bad I usually will put he Wraith on because it is lightweight with punch and a Scorpion so I can handle any faction.

It has the same rate of fire as its UC cousin that only does a little less damage and has an extra shot, so you are better off using it then the Wraith until we see a ROF buff on it - which we won't. It makes a good boat anchor though.

tried on the batarian as well.. after one mission, swtiched to N7 Piranha.

Well, BW is not that great, but it works fine with my SI, specially against Cerberus/Geth.

Such as? And why do you choose Wraith and not one of the other weapons I listed above?

I'm not doubting you, I just want to know why do you think Wraith is a better choice.

I love the Wraith, especially on Vanguards. It's relatively lightweight, and has a great damage output.
As for worst UR, I'd have to BW or even the Paladin. BW for common reasons, but the Paladin because the Carnifex outdoes it in almost every way.

I unlocked it very early - within my first few days of multiplayer - and it was awesome back then, being, by far, the best and most powerful weapon in my manifest. I stopped using shotties a long time ago, but lately I will use the Piranha X sometimes. If I had the Wraith at a higher level than III, I would likely use it sometimes as well.

Basically it's useful on classes that are cooldown dependant as it's quite light. The Piranha replaced it to a large extent though, in many circumstances.

Wraith vs Piranha:
The Wraith does more damage per shot, so the spike damage when used against shielded mooks (like Marauders) is a bit more useful - especially on Infiltrators. It's also slightly more accurate at mid/long range (if you hip-fire it).

The Piranha however, is light and will completely chew through boss monsters.


Wraith vs Reegar:
The Wraith (at high levels) is lighter, has range and is better against armour.

The Reegar is better at point blank, especially against shields; but with Incendiary ammo it's just better point blank against everything... the Wraith only wins out on weight and range.


Wraith vs Claymore:
The Wraith is lighter and more forgiving; with the Claymore you have to make every shot count. The Wraith will do slightly more damage in 2 shots than the Claymore does in 1.

However, with the slow RoF on the Wraith and good reload cancelling on the Claymore both those points are fairly moot; meaning that the Wraith is only better in that it affects your cooldowns less.


Wraith vs Talon
Ummm .... yeah. The Wraith has slightly more damage per shot and seems to be a little more accurate at range.

The Talon basically does everything the Wraith does, weighs slightly less (I think), and has 4 rounds in the chamber instead of 2 - about the only reason to take the Wraith over the Talon is gear synergy. Say you're using Shock Trooper gear V or Berserker gear V.


However, all that being said, I still use the Wraith on the Batarian Sentinel (with Berserker gear) and the NovaGuard (though a Talon + Commando package would actually be better). Occasionally use it on the Vorcha soldier when I'm bored of the Reegar or the Salarian Infiltrator (which was what I always used on him before the Piranha existed).

I am so comfortable with the Wraith. I use it with my BSol, SalEngy, N7 Paladin. I am comfortable with how I combo BB/ED with 2 shots of the Wraith. Repeat and you're good. I choose EB and smart choke for my mods.

Ditto..I use it on my N7 Shadow all the time. I love it. It takes a bit of getting used too but once you have it down, it works great for me.

Yes because the Wraith is a decent shotgun if you can actually aim.  And it was one of the best Vanguard shotguns.  Releasing one unbalanced shotgun does not make this one worthless.

Also comments about Black Widow or Paladin being the worst ultra rares are pretty telling as far as the player base's weapon knowledge goes.

I use it on my Asari Vanguard, Salarian Infiltrator, Human Adept and Human Sentinel. At level X it is a darn fine weapon, probably not as good as it should be, though.

The only reason to use the Wraith is

1. Its the longest range (non projectile) shotgun. (also besides crusader, but thats a sniper rifle)
2. I has a reload glitch (you can "cancel" a reload- *not to be confused with reload canceling*)
3. It is second highest damage per shot shotgun. (Graal, GPS need charge)

At the moment, the times where this shotgun shines, Wraith is overshadowed by RoF and pure take em out damage. The only reason I would really use the wraith over another is the "reloading" glitch.

Have it at VIII and the only thing going for it is semi-decent weight. But pirahna is lighter and the claymore does way more damage.

I'd consider it if the RoF was buffed. I can almost do a claymore reload cancel in the time it takes between 1st and 2nd shot. If it were Boom-Boom-reload cancel it would be cool. As is Boom.....Boom isn't worth it.

At the levels that player had them, those two weapons are terrible. The BW is horrible untl level IV, then it can OSOK basic trooper with body shots and is fine.   The Paladin II is worse than a high level Carnifex. The Paladin isn't better than the Carnifex until level VI.

You don't know what you're talking about.  The Wraith does significantly more damage than the Eviscerator.

I try to like it hard but its fire rate feels unnatural, is not that is slow but that you can't feel when is ready to shot again so you end mashing the fire button or waiting much longer it is necessary.

@OuterRim...you DO know that those little in-game bars are WAY off?

Wraith X does 1022.40 dmg per shot.
Wraight I does 818.4 dmg Per shot.
Eviscerator X does 645.60 dmg per shot.

BIG difference.
