tehehe.. Why do I get this vibe from BW people that they love to mess with fans ? :P

I've known Luke about 22 years now. It isn't just fans he messes with.

They are about as extinct as dragons were thought to have been

I would too. Specifically this exact moment, what appears to be a snapshot of the instant before a crash landing. I imagine the next 5 minutes filled with flailing, waterlogged wings and a frantic, gasping dogpaddle. Majestic.

So we can take this as official interest then, right? Right. ;)

This wins for funniest dev post I've seen in my time since pre-BSN.

I now declare this must be in DA3 with full water motion effects, extensive leg movement, and every feather animated differently.

Today on National Thedasgraphic: The overly territorial griffon sees a reflection of itself in the water and considers its reflection a threat. Unfortunately for this griffon this mistake will cost it its life. The strange and aggressive behavior of these majestic creatures is often blamed on the Grey Wardens and their secretive and selective breeding techniques.

Lukas must be the one who writes all that well-placed humor in Bioware games.

Seriously though I thought a newly hatched griffon would make a great 'Dog' replacer one game. Not big enough to ride, but you can name it and it helps out in fights and amuses us in cutscenes with its card playing skills.

Could see something like that happening...especially since the rumours of Varric returning in DA3 are roaming around. A scene involving them playing cards would be cool Posted ImagePosted Image.

Why does the Griffon always win?

Look at those claws. You want to tell it, it's lost go ahead.

@reapercushion

actually thought about that as it has been suggested that a griffon could make a great pet instead of dog..

Hmm..wonder though how that will work if it's fullgrown and one can actually ride it Posted Image.

This one looks fluffy but big and very...viscious...

If they return they can be a monster that has to be fought and then maybe tamed. A rediscovered griffon that has become wild Posted Image.

If they are as good as in Dragon's dogma I saw bring them, but rare and fitting story-wise.

I'd prefer a baby/young griffon over another marbari hound.

I would love to see something like this appear in the next installment:

You may get your wish, as Mike Laidlaw said this many months ago before Legacy's release, when asked if there would be griffons in it.

"At this point I can only promise statues".

Those are his exact words.

Based on that, I believe Griffons exist in a wild state on an uncharted/unexplored island somewhere.

Hell we've already killed dragons, demons, darkspawn and wyverns. What's a little Griffon taming? Maybe we can bond a spirit to an old gryphon skeleton. It'll be like cemetery, only with more blood mages.

Let them stay dead, creatures of myth and legends. They'll never be as glorious as the player's thoughts of griffons everywhere and aerial jousting.

Hokey Smokes! That's either the tiniest griffin in Thedas, or that ferret is monstrous!

So?  Can we put this down as the unoffical offical confirmation of mabye kinda yes there are going to be drowned Griffons in DA3?
