Real men scoff at staves and wands. Enchant your fists with magic and go to town.
Wands. I want them.

The fact is that staffs look cooler than wands. Wands are too Harry Potter.

Wands make much more sense than staves in pretty much every way. Adding wands would potentially also add variety to combat for mages, which would go a long way to make mages more exciting to play IMO*. But I would also like some staves that look like walking sticks to add aesthetic variety and common sense to the game.
*before anyone says that I'm saying mages aren't fun to play, that's not what I'm saying. I think the force Mage was very exciting to use to handle large crowds and the elemental tree was extremely aesthetically appealing. I just think weapon variety beyond added elemental damage would go a long way to make different mages feel more unique and exciting.

Excuse me, but what? Harry Potter didnt invent magic wands. Wands are a classic instrument of practitioners of the arcane arts.

I think it'd be nice if there was a one-handed option for Mages, sure, although I'm wondering what they'll be holding in their OTHER hand--having an empty hand would be unbalanced. Don't want mages falling over.
Also, I request ranged weapons for Warriors.

again, what? Wands are light and short, not large boulders. Why would a Mage fall over having a wand in one hand?

I'd like a red wand with a handle and a concave oval tip.

If I have to hold a replica sex toy in battle... Give me the 6 footer rather than a 6 incher. Go big or go home.
Size does matter.

Wands are a classic instrument of practitioners of illusion and sleight of hand.
Outside of Harry Potter, the only other time I've seen wands being used as the "focus point" for a magic user, was the film Willow, and two-part t.v. movie Merlin (Sam Niel ftw!) where it was a measure of one's proficiency with magic, along with incantation and hand gesture being lowest and highest respectively.
Swords & sorcery fantasy typically has wizards/mages/sorcerors having a magic staff, but still being able to cast spells without aid of any "focus point" beyond their own hands and/or voice.

Only if we can dual-wield them.
Otherwise there's no point.

Harry Dresden and the other practitioners in that series use wands. They also occasionally use staves, but practicality usually demands the use of a wand. And look at classical stories of wizards and sorcerers. They usually use wands, not staves. Often times they used wands made of bone. Magicians used wands for a reason. They're associated with magic.

Don't know if they has been mentioned already but in DA2 magic can also be cast with a mages bare hands, not in combat but in dialogues and cut scenes.
While I prefer staves over wands, it still would be a nice feature, but maybe a dev/writer can come along and explain the magical properties of staves

Dual wielding wands?
I support this as well!
It would be quite a distraction for enemies if they expect you taking dual-daggers and end up seeing two wands. When they are confused by it, you turn them to toads
I approve

Wands get:
+10% cooldown bonus
+15% attack speed bonus
-10% damage penalty
-25% range penalty
Boom. Wands are viable option.
