As a Mage player I was repulsed by this, but I can see merit in it from a gameplay standpoint. Maybe not as the minigame you proposed, but as a gameplay mech when you choose templar specialization. Having the ability to gain extra cash/ loot from hunting Mages or AKA Being a Templar is an excellent idea. Vise Versa, having a mech when your a Mage, having to avoid random templars in cities and having fights break out or when exploring while traveling can add to immersion. Maybe you can come across other Mages being hunted and have to give them a hand to rescue them from capture. Thus another opportunity to earn cash and loot from thankful brethren. You might even gain new party members through these encounters.

Na, there is a certain solace in just killing Magickers.

I fail to see the appeal of this.

This is an amazing idea! With this mini-game DA3 could aim for the GOTY again!
/sarcasm

I find the idea stupid, and not because the target are the mages (my opinion would be the same if the targets will be the templars). I'm fine with the choice to exterminate the rebel mages's faction (as long at the choice of of exterminate the templars is possible), but using resources in such a stupid mini-game is a waste, in my opinion.

Though I have to say that I always love to find topic made by extremist of both factions. They'll make me laugh everytime.

No, maybe he/she's not an extremist of one of the two factions.;) And even if there'll be mage-hunting quests in the game, they don't have to be based in such a stupid mini-game.

I wouldn't say it's a waste of resources.Doing the maker's work pays its own worth plus interest. Definitely a mage...

What's the use of hunting if it's not a sport? -_-

Fixed for you. The Maker never said that the mages should be hunted down. Andraste (not the Maker) said that magic shouldn't rule men, and that doesn't mean that mages should be hunted like animals. And with a waste of resources I was referring to Bioware's resources, not the Inquisitor's resources.
I'm pretty neutral on the whole templar-mage conflict (I even said that the idea would've been stupid even if the game was about hunting templars), and I really hope that there'll be an option to be neutral in the next game.
Not that I care much about being labeled as a mage or pro-mage, but only because someone doesn't want to hunt mages, that doesn't mean they're mages.

Again, do you really think you can catch a mage with a rope? And anyway, does DA3 need a human hunting mini-game?

Andraste was the maker's bride and the grand clerics are her spiritual progeny. Are you really going to call a woman of the holy cloth a liar?

No hunting humans would be inhumane.Mages on the other hand are Abominations or could be at any hour/second/minute of the day.Who is to say that a mage was not about to turn just as he was run through? :police:

Not a liar. A fanatic and an extremist. Like Sister Petrice, for example. And anyway, in both DAO, DAA, and maybe DA2 it's explicitely said what Andraste said about magic: that it doesn't have to rule men, but serve it. And this doesn't mean that mages should be hunted down, or treated as animals.
Oh, and I'm not saying that every member of the Chantry are fanatics. I was defending Elthina is a topic in the DA2 forums some months ago. I simply think that the Chantry is a mortal organization, and as such it's not perfect, and the priests could interpete the Maker's words in different ways. Petrice's interpretation of the Maker's words is fanatical and extremist, opposed to other priests who have moderate view. It happens in real religions, it happens in game religions.

And even if mages could turn into abominations, that doesn't mean that they have to be treated as non-humans. That doesn't mean that they should be used as playthings. Just as mages doesn't have to put terroristic acts against not their natural enemy (the Templars, or the Chantry's members) but on a building full of innocent people, just to force a war.
