it's a not a problem with me to play without romance, I have playing drakensang the river of time there is not romance and it's a good game !!
I have playing Skyrim but the romance is tood bad and it's create for the fanbase and not interesting !
I am ok for romance but realistic and with personality, the best for me is the romance in dragon age origins with Alistair and Morrigan !

Yes.

To elaborate - Romances are not a requirement for me to purchase and play an RPG. Depth, complexity and rich story telling is.

I play games with no romances and I've enjoyed them lots, romances for me are just an after thaught

In my opinion it would be refreshing and open up some new possibilities story wise. So yes, it would be a positive thing actually.

I would prefer no romance over DA2's romances.

It would also be natural for an insquisitor to not have romances, IMO.

Interesting question. Indeed, I would still play it, but I would be sad. Particularly since it's something I've come to expect and appreciate about BW games, so it would be a letdown. If I'd never had that expectation, of course it would be different and I'd probably enjoy the game for everything else that's great about Dragon Age. But now my eyes are opened and I know the romances are a great addition to the story and gameplay.

Would it still have an interesting story, well developed characters with friendship paths, puzzles, engaging combat and non combat options, and other fun RPG features?

Sure, I played RPGs with no romances plenty, before and after BG2 introduced me to the concept (and honestly, I wasn't interested in it at the time).

Plus, there is always fanfiction and fanart. IMAGINATION.

Romances are definitely an added plus for me with Dragon Age. Something I have come to really enjoy. If they were gone, I cant say I wouldnt purchase it, but I would be much more tentative. To keep it in perspective the dragon age franchise is the first RPG series i have enjoyed.

The romance are just an option in the scenario.

No, it would lessen my respect for the franchise.

Interesting responses thus far. After the excessive appearances of LI threads, I was under the impression people just couldn't live without it from their gaming experience. Glad I was proven wrong.

Yes. It would not feel like a Bioware game though. I think the romance options add a depth to the story that would be hard to replace if removed.

Yes, I would still play it. But I'd like to say that I appreciate the added element of romances into an rpg the way that Bioware does it. The pc is a "person" interacting with other "people" and to rule out romance would be to ignore a very human aspect that makes sense to include in the world they built for roleplaying. It is not needed to make a good story or game, but it certainly adds to immersion for me.I play a huge variety of games, many of which do not have romances, so it's refreshing to have this extra element to play around with in DA.

Well, I can't survive without food, water or breathable air. But man does not live by bread alone.

I would still buy it as long as everything else was fine.I actually kind of like the idea of a selfless and independent hero.

I would be 100% ok with this decision. IMO romances don't add enough oomph to the story to make them worth it. We can still have strong relationships with characters without needing to hump them all.

No romances in a Bioware game might be a good thing at this point.

What sort of trickery are you up to? You speak words, but I don't understand them.

I would. But I do think that romance can often enhance an epic tale, so I'd caution against throwing it out unless there was a good reason.

This.

I don't think bioware would do that though. It has been in almost all of there games and it's something too many people eat up. There would be a nerdrage like no other on this forum if there weren't any romance options.

I like the idea already.

I believe we'd actually see better character development if Bioware would drop the romances.

My first play through in bioware games is always without romances. I like friendship and caring about characters in games (and bioware does that best) but romances seem to always be awkward and some way off. Best way to break immersion in DA or ME is to start a romance.

I have played plenty of games with no romance aspect, and DAO and Fable were the first I played that offered it. BW had a certain depth in their romance sub-plots, where Fables was just more of a game mechanic...something silly (nothing wrong with silly, but it doesn't sustain interest for me).

Would I play the game if it didn't have romances? Yes, but probably only once. It is the "flavor" of friendships (or lack thereof), romances, general character interaction that encourage me to continue playing the game over and over. This equates to me buying DLC, extra copies for different platforms, and replacing worn out copies. I have played games that I truly enjoyed, but there are very few games I have ever played more than once, and even fewer that I buy DLC and multiple copies for. BW games are the first that I have done this with. Keep the romances, please.
