Yeah I'd still buy the game. Romance subplots are interesting, but not necessary for me.

No. The romances are what sets DA games apart from most other RPG's.

 Would you still play it?

Yes and I would do a happy dance, the romances in DA2 felt forced, the dialogue was badly written and made me cringe, the overall story suffers because of it, I would like to see Bioware focus on creating a great story before they tackle romances again.

DA is not a dating sim.

This is hilarious!  My sides hurt!  Where can  I buy this game?

And I would play DA3 without the romances, it's a great game series.  I love the storytelling, the characters, the lore, the combat.  That said, I do enjoy my romance subplots.  I'd miss it, but it's totally not a requirement for the game.  I don't think it's going away anytime soon though.

There's actually many levels of difference between a game having no romances at all and being a dating sim, you know.

As for the overall story suffering from it, the romances in DA2 are largely inconsequential to the rest of the game and is essentially a few scenes per character and some lines of changed dialogue here and there. I really don't see how whether or not they were there would've made the story any better.

I could see that game working with the Frostbite 2 engine. :o

If Dragon Age: Inquisition had no romance, what would be the point of playing the game?

I'd play it, but I'll definitely won't buy it on release. I'll wait for the price to drop significantly.
It's not just because there would be no romances, but because it means that it would be very different from previous games, and probably for the worse.

Would I play the game without romances? Probably, but I'd be disappointed because I think they're fun.

Would I play the game without relationships? No. I like being able to talk to my companions (actually dialogue, not just have them spout off comments when I click on them). I like being able to feel like I'm making friends with my companions. Not romances, just friendships. And if DA:I doesn't have relationships like Morrigan coming close to tears when she calls you 'friend,' Varric looking out for you if you're in a relationship with a potentially unstable person, or Aveline comforting you in her own way after your mother's death, then I am not interested in playing.

yes >_>

Although I would be REALLY sad D:
Because romances sometimes add to the plot, like alistair's romance.. with..ya's becoming queen and all...

All and all though, It would be like going back to the time of oblivion and fallout...

Where I just tottally headcannon'd shipped my pplz ;3

Seraphina and Farkas <3333

We'd have to fall back to playing it for the computer game.

You say that as if romances are somehow separate from the rest of the game.

What if the feature being removed was all non-plot critical quests? Or crafting? Or combat? Would your response still be acceptable?

I'd be sad. It's one less way to express my character, one less element of my character's life gets explored, one less way for NPCs to react to my PC, etc. Not to mention, and I see no reason why I should be embarrassed to say this, I am a sucker for love subplots.

The romances that make me feel like I'm exploring a relationship with a character using my own in-game avatar stand-in are at the crux as to why I find role playing games fun. Why else would one play role playing games, if not to explore a romantic relationship with a character? I mean how are you supposed to appreciate good writing, or care about the story, if you cannot personally involve yourself with the NPCs in romantic and sexual relationships?

If they were taken out, BioWare games would be no different to the other shallow, meaningless stuff on the market that don't have romances.

I'd totally buy it if it doesn't have romance options at all, I'd actually rather have BW spending time and resources to create an interesting story, level design and great gameplay then spending it on shoe horning in romances just for the sake of there being romances.

Sure, romances are not essential for me on a RPG game.

After carefull consideration, no. Not for this specific title.
Bioware games are much character driven games for me and anything that means less character interaction is not a plus.
That together with the rumour premise of the game would put me off buying. Right now the only reason I am in pre-buying mood is because.
A. I said I would pre-order.
B. Even if I don't like the main story the chances are that it has memorable characters that will make the story good since it is bioware, if a feature of this character interaction is completely removed I would lose faith in this title, which premise I don't exactly like. At least not like it is rumoured to be right now.

If there was no romance in the game I probably would still buy it, but in reality I highly doubt they would leave it out. It's an integral part of an RPG, and for those who don't want to romance anyone that has always been an option in DA.

Heh I know, I'm only kidding really. They might not be my bag entirely, but I wouldn't have them removed when so many others love them.
