Cheesy romances won't fix a cliche plot or improve a clunky combat system.

And if I have no issue with the plot or combat?

Without Romance it ain't a Bioware Game.

Think about it: SWKotOR had Bastilla and that was CENTRAL to the plot (Carth was good too).
DAO and DA2 romances have indeed been subplots rather than something as central as the Bastilla romance in KotOR, but they still add important imersion elements to the universe.

So no without Romance I would seriously doubt the quality of the rest of the game, if Bioware were to abandon a staple like that who knows what else would change.

I'd consider buying the game if there were no romances.

No, don't think so.

I don't like the combat system, too slow. Story for DAO was very clichee. I work and have small kids, I raid on WoW weekly. My time for gaming is very limited. I would much rather replay a game I enjoyed than go play something with a clunky combat system and predictable story.

Bioware games are unique to me because of romance. There are a thousand other games to play if I just want to kill orcs.

I think you're being unappreciative by saying this. Surely there's other aspects you've enjoyed besides romance in a BioWare game.

Yes. But BSN would be 389% less catty, and that would be boring.

Yes, I like dragon age universe for the dark fantasy setting. I like the global anarchy they're going with in DA3, I hope things get worse setting up DA 4 as the massive ending finaly puting things right in the world that is mostly ashes but life will continue on.

I would be delighted. I'm bored of these nauseating, poorly written, irrelevant little subplots and the rediculous emphasis the fanbase (or at least a sizeable division of it) place on them. They consist of a few lines of sappy dialogue followed by a cut-price "sex" scene, and yet they get as much play on these forums as the rest of the game put together. Obviously they're a windfall for Bioware and EA because of all the fangirls who tune in just for the lovin', and there's nothing wrong with that, but I would rather the devs spend their time working on something a little more mature and a little less pandering. Failing that, they could at least try to integrate them into the plot properly. In DA, DA2, and ME, they stuck out like a sore thumb.

Yes, I don't buy games based on if they have virtual sex or not.

I guess that would make you not the person that Reaverwind quoted, then, in which case what he has to say doesn't really apply to you ;)

If the rest of the roleplay is good, but it would be much more dull.

Nope.

I could just pick up any other RPG then.

Are you really saying that without romance options Bioware games are really like ANY other RPG in terms of story and atmosphere? It's not like without them we'd be stuck with a Skyrim clone (not that that would even necessarily be a bad thing).

Absolutely. The romance subplots have never been the selling point of Bioware games to me.

Sure, but romance has consistently been one of BioWare's most powerful narrative tools.  It's a great way to get players engaged in the world, and they're good at it.  I don't see a reason NOT to include it.

Bull. We'll see some real fireworks here if Bioware cuts the romances.

I admit that was a bit of an exaggeration. ;)
But I can find plenty of other games with lots of atmosphere and a great story which might be better than Bioware games in that regard. Romance makes them special for me.

yes, but it would be hard to. ive played many games where i couldnt choose my relationships and romances(FF anyone?) yet if DA3 suddenly removes it completely, it like getting rid of your crack all of a sudden, and to many who like the aspect of relationships this is really gonna screw people over. and i believe they would be exactly like the other games, except DA would have outdated mechanics. course thats just my opinion.

Actually i agree. Being rated 18, DA2 was dissapointing. The escorts in hightown were a waste of money since there was no scene.
(Also, romance threesomes, anyone?)

It wouldn't be bad. As long as you aren't forced to have a relationship with someone.
