Alright then. Tell us how romance actually works, love guru. I fail to see the roblem with the current mechanics. Do the characters not talk to each other? Do they not learn about each other? Is that not how attraction and relationships develop generally?Rockworm503 wrote...

That's not "perfectly clear" at all. Are you saying that in order for it to count as a "romance", there has to be nudity and/or an explicit sex scene? How does adding explicit sex magically improve the quality of the writing? What about romances in books, plays and movies, where sex is often not shown, and sometimes doesn't even occur at all?Rockworm503 wrote...
Lets be perfectly clear here. No one has played a game made by bioware that actually had romances.
As much as people fawn over it likes the end all be all of bioware games. The simple truth is their badly written shlock to appease sexually frustrated people. The only time I'll accept that its actually "romances" is when their no longer scared of Fox News. Until then enjoy your "we'll bang Ok?" dialog followed by dry humping in clothes.
What about asexuals? Does this mean their relationships are fake?
Reading comprehenesion... and people wonder why I don't take the Bioware fanbase seriously.
Everyone is going so crazy about needing everyone to be romancable. There hasn't been a romance in their games and I refuse to accept the "do my quest and say something nice to me and we'll bang"
Nudity does not = romance but pretending people have sex in their clothes = insulting intelligence. As a fanbase that love to toute the horn on bisexuality and everything else I find it so amusing to see how little anyone actually understand how romance actually works. I find CW's teen drama garbage more believable.
Just because you don't see the clothes come off doesn't mean they never do. The penetration occurs offscreen, as it does in... well, pretty much everything that isn't porn.
I fail to see how it's an 'insult' to your intelligence to assume that you know how sex works, and would understand the implications.
*sigh*
I'm done here.
All I'm saying is make the rest of the game worth a damn before we focus on some silly gimmick that anyone whose been around long enough can see right through.

Sorry, but I have to disagree here. In a lot of cases, the romances have been force-fed onto us (ME1 being the most blatant example) but in say BG2 (which was in part written by D Gaider) the romancing was fun, outdrawn and you had to really, really work for it - none of the romanceable characters really fawned over the protagonist - they expressed an interest which the PC was free to exploit if he so wanted, and it was quite easy to mess up.
That said, I would effin' love a game without the romance subplot, just for the novelty of it, but as so many have said, ithe **** storm on BSN would become epic.

Yet, the game will feature it. We know this. If this thread was trying to use extremism to make a point, it's a ridiculous point (as are all extremist opposition arguments).

You've been on the BSN forums for more than a year and you are questioning how seriously people take romances?

That's an exaggeration. There wasn't as much dialogues as in Origins, but there were three or four dialogues with each companions. And this put the expansion on a similar level of ME2.

Ive grown to love the fact that you can have a lover in the game.
If done right, the story could change depending on your LI.
