In both Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2, the option to have
your companions wear whatever armor you wanted them to wear was removed. In
ME2, I was perfectly fine with it and actually kind of liked it since all the
armor looked pretty good and went with the look of the companion. DA2 on the
other hand, I did not like it at all, even though I was perfectly fine with the
companion’s armor and how it looked, so why is that? Simply put, I was
irritated that despite the fact Hawke could only wear specific clothes that
related to his class and everyone else had their own personal armor; I was
being drowned with items I had no use for what so ever other than to sell it.
"Oh joy, another piece of heavy armor, this would be really useful if I
was warrior, to bad I'm a mage and my warrior companions won't wear it so I guess
I will just sell it for twenty silver because the merchants in Kirkwall drive
the hardest bargains this side of the fade." 2/3 of the armor I would get
would be useless (along with a goodly number of weapons) due to it being
restricted to another class so then I would have to clog my inventory just so I
could go to some merchant and sell it all. Of course, reaching your item limit
is not something reserved to just DA2, I was guilty of it in Dragon Age Origins
but I had the choice of using the items or having a companion use if I so
desired too, not just be forced to sell them.

Was anyone else annoyed by that or was that just me? To be
perfectly honest the fact that so much of the loot I found had no purpose was
one of the things I disliked the most about DA2, well that and no items
descriptions, I really want item descriptions to come back, I really enjoyed
reading them. So yeah, what do you guys think about the loot system? I
going to take a guess that DA3 is going to still do unique clothing for each
companion with the possibility of changing some things up, so do you think the
random and set loot should be designed to allow you the possibility of using it
instead of just being forced to sell it?
