I've decapitated Howe before but the cutscene of him dying on the floor cursing the warden still plays.

In a conversation with Alistar at camp he mentions that Duncan was having horrible dreams and that Duncan said he would be traveling soon to the Deep Roads as do all the older Wardens when it is there time. So Duncan got his release without traveling a long way to the deep roads.
But it would be cool to see our Grey warden at wiessanhaupt <or however its spelled> placing Duncan's Swords at the Grey Warden keep in Memory of Service an the character we play Mother or Father was there for the service to see The Hero of Fereldan honor a great warden for his service.

All the ret-con talk... they WANTED Lelieana alive. they DONT want Duncan alive. Why? He adds nothing to the future story, his DEATH is what made him so important (as Alistairs motivation). Anything you could want Duncan to do could be done by a new character with the benefit of retaining (whats left) story integrity.

Wasn't Duncan closing in on his time to go the the Deep Roads? I remember Alistair (I think it was Alistair) mentioning something about how Duncan has been a Warden for a long time, and the call of the old gods was giving him night terrors.

Either way, he would be dead by the time DA2 concludes.

Check the comments Gaider has made about the books and the comics. They follow a different canon than the games. Nothing in the counts in regards to the games.

What Gaiders comments mean is that the events in the books differ depending on YOUR choices, but the events happen one way or another.

I.E. even if you killed Wynne then someone else plays her part in Asunder, but the events (in general) still occur. Thus it does indeed show resurrection is possible (under limited very specific circumstances)

Considering Cole's in DA3 it might be canon and Wynne was though in the main game.

The Cardinal rules of magic are broken by the Tevinter Mages. I'm fairly sure we'll find all of these rules broken by one entity or another in the future. Just because it hasn't been done before doesn't mean it can't be done.
