For once, can we see a left-handed character in this series? From my experiences, the only time lefties get any significant amount of attention in games happens to be in games like Madden and FIFA.

Will there be a character that's a lefty? It doesn't have to be the PC - it could be an NPC (and it could be more feasible if it requires unique equipment). Surely Thedas has some left handed combatants!

It would be tricky because they'd have different animations. I agree it would be awesome, but it might be too complicated :(

Lefties are an abomination against the Lord and should be struck down with righteous fury.

no, it would actually be cool to see a leftie just for the change in animations; it wouldn't be a big thing, but sometimes the smallest of things can keep things feeling fresh and/or different.

It makes a realistic sense not to have lefties in game, why? Simple, lefties are a minority, meaning if you were to join my army, be it a roman legion or some kings royal guard, you would be trained and told to use your right. This is to ensure you work with your fellows and not against them, opening up holes in your rank.

Oddly enough historically they have it accurate, you were trained to fight right because the majority are right. If the majority were left, then you would train people to fight like that.

Lefties don't exist in the Dragon Age universe and have never been mentioned.

They aren't talking about fighting necessarily, just anybody.

And, Hawke wasn't in the army, at least some Hawkes. And the Wardens all probably had varying chances for whether their circumstance could have supported or not supported left handers.

As for the topic, i imagine you could just reverse the animations.

You could do it for ranged characters if that's the case, considering ranged character supermodels don't interact with other supermodels like melee character supermodels do (bodies = supermodels | equipment = submodels)

Depends on what they do when the ranged character enters a melee. Will they hit with the bow/staff/ranged implement, continue to shoot at point blank or pull a knife etc.

Yeah, coz it's like totally discriminating against left handed people! How are they supposed to relate to a right handed character!? Totally unfair!

Only after proper bowstring implementation has been developed.

As long as they don't want to include parries, I would have thought it wouldn't be too difficult to do.

But I know nothing.

Right handed dual wielders would fight a little differently than left handed dual wielders. The "off-hand" weapon would change, and *maybe* the fighter's stance as well.

It's probably not going to happen, since it'd mean considerably higher cost (and the whole act of hiring one or two additional motion capture actors).

I do for once sympathize with the problem though - I recall there was some strategy game a while back, where they used a left -handed actor for motion capturing, and all soldiers in all armies were using their left - which was actually surprisingly irritating, even from a largely bird-eye perspective.

The only left handed character that I can think of in Dragon Age is the Maker himself. Or at least I like to think I'm in his left hand whenever I play Dragon Age.
