Will Dragon Age III still have the 'Dragon Age' feel to it?

I already felt the unique dragon age feel/atmosphere that origins had start to fade in Dragon Age 2. Will Dragon Age 3 take some elements from origins - the elements that made the game so charming and unique in the first place? I don't want Dragon Age 3 to go overboard on the best combat mechanics and graphics possible. I would prefer they focus on the overall story and character development - something which DA2 lacked.

The multiplayer could take away from this as well. Will the new engine affect how the overall game feels and take away from the 'rpg' experience? I hope not. I hope the Dragon Age 3 devs realise that we would like to see a game that relates to Origins more, not DA2.

With all this talk about making the world more open, I just don't want the game to feel like a modern 'Third Person' Skyrim with hack and slash combat - Skyrim is good but it's a game which had a weak story with no character development whatsoever.

Well there's your problem right there.

DA3 will feel like what they want DA3 to feel like. Which I would suspect is an evolution of DA2.

I dunno, I prefer to think that DA:O and DA 2 each had their own 'feel'. Charming in it's own way.
So I'm not too worried.

Is that feeling the warm one you get when you kill someone annoying or darkspawn?

I think it will lack at least some of the Dragon Age "feel" by virtue of being a completely different engine (I don't how much different it's going to be, but I'm betting it's going to be quite a lot), but in terms of writing and "atmosphere", I doubt much will change (then again, I found DA2 to largely have the same "feel", although the level and art design sometimes worked against this, I admit).

I disagree.

And I wouldn't. Your statement should be that "I hope DA3 devs realize I would like to see the game that relates to Origins more".

DA:O's plot can be summarized in five words. Hero saves world from monsters. Its not even a very original plot, or one with a unique twist on it. Also character development basically doesn't occur at all in DA:O. Given its a one year time frame and people aren't expected to change much, but Ogrhen stays the same, Shale stays the same, Zevran... Basically none of the companions experience character development except for possibly Alistair and Morrigan in their hardening and romance respectively. Even this character development is rather briefly gone over. The Warden as a character can be rp'd as though he experiences character development, but that's about it.

DA2's plot was interesting and had many unexpected twists. Many of the companions evolve in their views, and Hawke has a much more plausible ten years to change his views on certain matters. I felt that DA2 had both better story and better character development than Origins. Also the companions had more original personalities. Most of the characters in DA:O were reboots from previous games, or stereotypes like Oghren.

When I think "Dragon Age", I think of Origins. Will DA3 feel like origins? I doubt it.

How are you so sure? It could be happy with rainbows and soft pillows.

You know, despite typing "DA2" quite a bit to attack it, I never actually think of it as "Dragon Age".

I liked DA2, I loved Origins. Therefore I hope DA3 is somewhere between DA2 and DAO in terms of gameplay, art style, character development, etc. Then it would be the best thus far.

Characters don't change much in a one year time frame. You obviously haven't seen One Piece, character developement up the ass...all with in a one year time frame in the story:PAnyway you make a reasonable arguments with some of the Origins characters, but I don't see much character developement in Anders,Fenris,Aveline,Varric or Sebastian.

Anders doesn't develop? He goes from the guy who starts a free clinic for refugees to the guy who blows up a church.
