What has been seen can not been unseen. Take a look at the picture below.

Posted Image

Seriously, I can not imagine playing DA2 anymore after seeing that picture. To me (s)he looks more like a megalomanical ADHD girlish boy who has been ****ed by Inquisators. That is based on her looks and behaviour. There is no way I could take him seriously. My char would just ignore him and if (s)he would continue to stalk and harass my char the most logical thing to do would be to teach him a lesson - if (s)he really would not understand to leave me be.

I didn't realise untill now what was so completely ****ed up on that NPC. When I played DA2 I saw that something is seriously wrong now and doesn't make any sense at all. Though, to begin with many things were seriously wrong in DA2, but that kind of jokes just contribute to the trash bin absurd fantasy gategory the game belongs to.

I wish you don't make such kind of over the top mistakes in DA3 but rather make the NPCs to be more beliavable and able to be taken seriously. So, no heavy plate armours and heavy Zweihänders for females, unless they are some sort of freaks in local minority special interest bar.

Putting a fake mustache on Cassandra would ruin my immersion, too, OP. I stand with you in your objection to fake mustaches on Cassandra.

@OP -
While your level of believability/immersion/etc is your own, a woman does not need to be a "freak" to be in plate armor - this is hardly anything "over the top." History has shown us that plenty of women have taken up arms and donned chainmail.

Really? Can you please post some links then. I need more information about that.

I suppose I could do your research for you, sure. <_<

From the Metropolitan Museum of Arts - Arms and Armor - Common MIsconceptions and Frequently Asked Questions:

"2. Women of earlier times never fought in battle or wore armor.—Wrong.

There are several references to women participating in armed conflict from most periods of history. While some evidence is available for noble ladies-turned-military commanders, such as Countess Jeanne de Penthièvre (1319–1384), there are only scattered references to women from lower levels of society taking up arms. Nevertheless, some are recorded as having fought in armor, although no contemporary illustrations showing any of them actually wearing armor appear to have survived. Joan of Arc (ca. 1412–1431), probably the most famous example of a female warrior, is reputed to have had a suit of armor commissioned for her by the French king Charles VII. Yet, only one small illustration of her, undoubtedly drawn during her lifetime, has come down to us, showing her with a sword and banner but not dressed in armor. The fact that contemporaries apparently perceived women leading an army, or even wearing armor, as something worth recording at least in writing indicates that such a sight must have been an exception rather than the rule. "

Also, for contemporary proof that women can be in plate without needing to look like Conan, take a look at Ren Faire performer and knight, Virginia Haskins

While historical records, literature and art may not have been overflowing with images or descriptions of women in armor, they did exist. The lack of abundance of something does not negate the reality of it.

Actually, OP is right - "plenty" is exaggeration to say the least. There were some exceptions, but far, far from "plenty". And for someone familiar with history female in plate armor as an everyday thing does look ridicules for so many social-economical even biological )to some degree) reasons that concern and confusion is understandable.

Yet, we are in a fantasy universe. Just take a usual explanation, moilami - "it's magic" - and go from there. And if you need believable example of a woman in a plate armor, forget about Cassandra and look at Avelin. Don't tell me she looks absolutely unnatural to you.

Don't you dare diss the 'stache.

Other than that...what the HECK are you talking about, OP?

(From the title I almost thought this topic was about demanding that the PC is male-only because playing a female char breaks immersion. See what you've done to me, BSN?)

Interesting. I guess woman are fine with heavy plate armour and two-handed swords then. Of course not every woman but not every male would be comfortable either. Most athletic and trained ones could be comfortable regardless of sex, yet I still think it would make more sense for a woman to chose some not so heavy weapon and armour combination in order for her to be able to unleash better the potential she have. The same goes for men. Rope necks could possibly perform better with not so heavy equipment. This is also why some equipment in some games have STR requirement.

In conclusion I just say that I dislike a lot that woman in her role in DA2. Hope I don't see her in DA3.

Well at-least they didn't make full plate armor like real life plate armor, no two people wouldn't be able to fit into the same suit of plate.

So, if I understand, OP doesn't want to see women NPC with massive armour (which were already present in DAO, by the way)?
Now I really want the marketing Inquisitor to be a woman warrior with a massive armour.

Yeah, I don't want to see women in massive armours, unless they are freaks in a cave I mentioned. I also don't want to see males running oversized JRPG sword in their back.

Just no. Females should not wear massive armours, and pray god the only woman in Orlais doing that hopefully stays away of my eyes and does not get glued to my team.

Is this too much to ask for?

Sophia Dryden had a massive armour. Branka had a massive armour. Meredith has a massive armour. Aveline has a massive armour. If Cassandra will be in the game again, she'll probably have a similar armour as the one she had in DA2.
It's useless to complain about that. If Bioware thinks that a  female NPC will fit a massive amour, they'll give her a massive armour.
Your immersion wasn't ruin in ME2 when Thane, Jack, Miranda, Jacob and others went in battle withot a proper armour?
And btw, the massive armours in both games should already ruining your immersion, since there's no way you can use that type of armours in real combat. That wasn't a problem for you, isn't it?

I support women with Massive Armor, Big Swords, and if the player is so disposed, MAGNIFICENT MUSTACHES!

Two-handed weapons, I agree. But I'd like if the two-handed swords will not be as big as DA2. They were too big.

From antiquity to modern times, there are many stories of female warriors, of Amazons. The best known find their way into the history books as worrior queens, rulers as well as leaders. They have been forced to act as any Churchill, Stalin, or Roosevelt: Semiramis, from Nineveh, who shaped the Assyrian Empire, and Boudicca, who led one of the bloodiest English revolts against the Roman forces of occupation, to cite just two. Boudicca is honoured with a statue on the Thames at Westminster Bridge, opposite Big Ben.

Historians have often struggled to deal with women who do not respect gender distinctions, and nowhere is this distinction more sharply drawn than in the question of armed combat.

An estimated 600 women served during the American Civil War. They had signed up disguised as men. Hollywood has missed a significant chapter in cultural history.

Short List of Female warriors:
Ethelfleda
Tomoe Gozen
Tamar of Georgia
Hangaku Gozen
Mandukhai Khatun
Queen of England and Ireland
Joan of Arc

Well, I heard Orlais is quite a silly place, perhaps we should not go there after all?

Females should not wear massive armours

You would rather see them running head-first into combat scenarios wearing nothing but their underwear I suppose?

Not being funny, if a woman is going to be conditioned to fight, she's also going to be conditioned to don any kind of armour that she feels comfortable in. Leliana felt comfortable in leather, Aveline felt comfortable in plate.

If the training has been rigorous and the body is conditioned for it - It matters little what the gender is... And this applies to history as much as fantasy.

Well, I think that mobility is better than massive armour in modern combat - unless you are literally a tank - but even then you need mobility. So people in ME were fine. I am not those Warhammer 2100 or whatever dudes. Maybe peeps in ME used far more advanced kevlar armours than exist in our world, not to speak of psionics they had. Besides if you have cleavage and ass, why would you hide them? I don't see women doing that except in certain countries in middle east etc.

Aveline, well, I know she have tons of fans but that doesn't mean I would have to agree with the hivemind about her. I got very much enough of her when she got a job as a guard and begun to talk that holier-than-thou stuff. On the other hand I recall her having more sane armour and sword & shield, so she was not totally disturbing - yet I am happy I never finished the game so I did not have to experience how low fan service can go. I am sure she became only worse.

Branka, she was about fine in general. Nuts and lacking something but pretty fine otherwise.

Meredith I don't remember, except that I have heard that name.

I am 125 pounds and cannot imagine myself in massive armor. I have tried to play warriors but can’t get past the first couple of quests. So, where I can, I play a rogue or sorceress. But I have a friend who is 6’ and have no problem imagining her in massive armor. If women in massive armor is kept in proportion to some population math, it would be fine. I just don’t want to see all of them in massive armor or in light armor or in dresses. We are a pretty diverse group.

It would also be nice to see a couple of different body types rather than having us all look the same. I suppose that is true for men as well.

I think it's safe to say that there's going to be  a higher proportion of fighting women in the halls the PC is likely to walk in DA3.
