As I recall it, Shepard looks kind of awkward during the show. As if she wasn't sure she wanted it :D

At release you got N7 points for leveling each type within a class, so you could get 40pts from leveling a Human and Turian soldier to 20.

Wrong.  Levelling N7 hasn't changed since release.

Why, oh why, do people take this thread so seriously...

Even after admitting that it's just for laughs, people take it seriously.

Is it reading comprehension fail, is it read half the OP then post response based on assumption, what?

Oh well.  It was worth a shot.

And what if several people are playing on the same account? Really, I couldn't care less about how other people play this game and how often they play it.
Besides, not sure if this whole thread is sarcastic or not.

The scarier thought is that there are people who think promoting that much actually does anything.

Depends why they promote, I guess. When I'm mostly playing Gold, I don't promote. That's what respec cards are for (if I need 'em). However, I got bored grinding gold, so I'm currently promoting quite a lot.

I'm going to play every single class (in order) and use every single weapon (good or not). I'll promote at 20, and level the new class playing Bronze from 1-11, Silver from 12-17 and Gold from 18-20. Some days I'll do better (GI/GPS) and some days I'll do worse (HS/Avenger), but it'll be an interesting experiment, which is more than I can say for a lot of MP at the moment.

With Character Cards, raising N7 is actually quite easier than you put it.

I agree that this player need to be hospitalized, fast.

I also fear that his butt is glued to his seat after 6 months.

Probably missile glitcher without DLCs. He uses character cards to level up fast, while glitching in Platinum. This gives him an huge amount of xp.

If it's the N7 13k from the MP-telemetry, then he can't missile glitch.

Plus, it's his time, who am I to judge.

Need to add recruit packs into the equation. 7 gold games worth of recruit packs is about 3,911,250xp.

And 2,500,000xp is to go from level 1-20 from what I read.

That is easily another 20+ levels per 7 games. Which results in less than half the time from your calculation. about 500 hours of play, 62 work days, 3 work months.

Also, they can be playing on platinum with faster times and using real money to get new weapons / xp, so it is very possible.

Also, account for the +10 n7 for each promotion, etc.

The only thing that disturbs me about this is the mechanic of determining the "level" itself. Its a mere representation of grinding time, not of skill or progress.

What would be much more interesting is something like average score per game per difficulty per class. Would take only a trivial SELECT on the collected data.
If you have an average score of, whateever, 100.000 with a common human class on gold, then you most probably are "high skilled". Or 150.000 with a Vanguard or so. Don't nail me down on the numbers, I just picked something.
But grinding promotion time has next to no significance.

That there are some lesser people who drop thousands of hours of life time in executing routine tasks to increase a simple number somewhere in a server database to feel like they achieve any kind of value or skill through this does not disturb me much. Free will and so on. Everyone as it pleases him.
