Cloaks/capes need to be in Dragon Age 3. Not only would they provide further aesthetic customization for your character but they could also serve to enhance certain character statistics. Many RPG's recently have shown that you can implement such clothing accessories and do so without any issues. Look at Two Worlds 2 or Dragon's Dogma. Okay admittedly some of the long cloaks in Dragon's Dogma weren't that great in terms of physics but all of the smaller ones worked perfectly. Even a small cape like the one below would suffice.

And we need more armors like the mage champion armor (earlier on in the game). It was the best looking armor in DA2 IMO:

And the Regalia of Weisshaupt armor set for warriors looks good too:

Such are the type of armors DA3 needs.

I've never been a big fan of capes and loose clothing flapping around on armor in combat. But other people like them so I'm not going to complain. Except for butt capes (both the Mage Champion armor and Regalia of Weisshaupt armor has it). I can not stand butt capes and think they should be purged from the universe.

LOL "butt" capes. So that's what I should call them?

Butt capes for DA3 please Bioware.

Okay, obligatory reference done, serious response:

My only problem with capes is the difficulty in getting them to act correctly (ie like cloth, not sheets of hard plastic) and not have lots of clipping issues.  If those two issues could be solved, I would support this.  If not, let's just let it go.  XD

I'm a supporter of cloaks/robes/hoods. Just...not in the style of DA:O. Some of those hat designs were insultingly bad. Image IPB

Capes would be awesome. Also bow strings.

I support capes, cloaks, tassels and whatever else I can accessorize my characters with.

If BioWare can make them "flow" correctly, sure. The clipping issues would really irritate me, similar to Revan's robes in KotOR.

Yeah, clipping drives me nuts in every game I play. I wish my brain didn't furiously hate such small details like the hilt of a sword clipping through a cape, but it drives me nuts. I seriously choose the weapons and armor I use based on clipping.

Can be really cool, but I'm not sure its worth the resources.

Remember, everything has a cost in terms of time and money to develop. So how important is it to have capes/cloaks etc to you?

That said, good looking armor is critical for RPGs.

Well considering Two Worlds II did it without any clipping issues, I'm sure an AAA developer like BW could.

This is something that many Japanese games totally own Western games at tbh. Look at Dragon's Dogma, no glued on clothing. Most everything that's free - from hair to cloaks - flows freely.

How many outfits can you use in those Japanese rpg's though? Most of my experience has been very limited outfit selection.Mix and match armor or flowing stuff. How many have pulled off BOTH together?
On the other hand DA 2 did go the 2-3 looks/per character path for npc's.

Dragon's Dogma.

And we're not talking about JRPG's in the sense of Final Fantasy. We're talking about RPG's developed in the east that have much in common with western RPG's (such as artstyle, combat, customization and so on).

Meanwhile Two Worlds 2 - a german RPG - featured a range of customizable armor along with cloaks.

+1 here!  I am absolutely loving some Dragon's Dogma right now! This gmae is a total sleeper for fans of the genre. So much fun!
