Is this confirmed? At the very least we should be given the option to turn it off.

Realistic dismemberment would be a better substitute and look much more cool. Or even a simple decapitation attack replacing exploding corpses would be more aesthetically pleasing.

I hope so. The body explosions in DA2 were pretty absurd. I will be content with realistic gore, not ultra-gore.

a enemy should only explode when hit with a maul in imo but then it should be only the head

Well, they did patch DA2 to reduce the number of explosions.

And they're clearly aware of the feedback that the special kill animations were appreciated.

Though personally I never liked the beheading animations much. They just didn't look like efficient ways to kill someone.

The exploding enemies and the bloodspatter/red fluid? that were supposed to be their remains flying around in DA2 made me Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB.

I really hope that I do not have to see that again in DA3. If what the OP says is true that would be very welcome news. Although the very explicit showing of limbs and such flying around..

Better cut off their limbs and head than pointless explosion. In DA2 it was pretty funny, you stick a dagger in your enemy and KABOOM! It seems that the daggers releases some kind of C4.

I hope they're gone. I do like gore, but hitting someone, and watching them explode was silly. Although it should remain for Walking Bombs.

If they keep the combat fast paced I hope that combat kill animations don't keep the player locked into a position/attack. That could make things a real pain on higher difficulty.

As for body explosions, too over the top. Hopefully they are removed.

I found myself missing the explosions, actually. They were over-the-top, but now all my enemies just fall over and die. That's not as fun.

It's the next logical step after the decapitation in DA:O.

How much more efficiant can you kill someone than by cutting off their head?

Given that the Warden can apparently remove someone's head with a blunt mace and you never see the severed head hit the ground, I was under the assumption that enemies' heads actually WERE exploding in DAO.

It's actually monstrously difficult to cut off a person's head in real life, even while using a sharp axe and the person kneeling down. The chances of doing it in battle are slim.

Well, here's to a new graphic engine that this series finally deserves. Decapitations should look wicked in this next one.

Just cutting their throat or running them through or something would be easier.

We're talking about efficiancy here, not expediency.  Nothing says more dead than your enemy's head rolling around the battlefield.

It's easier than making a person explode with a pair of daggers.

The death animations in DA2 were horrible.
They weren't fantastic in DA:O, but 1000x better than DA2.

If I use walking bomb, then I don't mind them exploding.

But poking them with a dagger and having them explode is just dumb.

Guys, you're forgetting that the rogue's kick could make enemies explode.

I didn't realize I was playing God in DA2.

I don't mind if bodies explode with certain spells, or dismemberments or decapitations with certain moves ect. However DA2 went overboard, hopefully they fix it.

They patched it out mostly. There was a math error on launch that made it happen far, far more than intended.

But at least the blood splatter on the player was toned down substantially from DAO. I still remember coming out of the pantry after killing rats with my dog looking like Carrie at the prom.

Jack you know we can not give credit for anything BioWare fixes.  It does not matter it was one of the complaints that was possible to quickly fix after launch.

We must all stand together and hate them for something that was intended and quickly remedied.

I am just going back to short waffles jokes. Longwinded sarcasim is not my forte. Sorry everybody.
