My cloth map is complete and total garbage. The coloring is so dull that most of the places simply can't even be read.

Was there a bad batch of them? WIll Bioware be replacing them for those of us who received bad ones?

I used mine to wipe up some cat vomit I found on the carpet when I arrived back at the house.

Worked pretty good for that.

garbage says the man... but truly, consider it to be "weathering"... and there are mock blood-stains on it too...

Any word on this? Was there a bad batch of them, or is it supposed to look this horrible?

Dude seriously without the game id expect that cloth map to be about as much money as a single pair of socks. Not to knock BioWare or anything. At least its something useful. Know what i got as a preorder bonus for that horrible LoTR's Battlefront knock off? A freaking mail opener. Yea. Useless. At least you can hang a weathering cloth map on a wall.

I haven't seen a really good cloth map since the old Ultima cloth maps. This one is better than what I got for the NWN2 CE or even the Baldur's Gate I map, but I was really hoping they would go the distance and give us something more like the faux hide map that I saw came with the European press kit. That thing was huge, detailed, and sweet from what I recall.

That is EXACTLY what I was going to say.  Ultima IV for teh C64 was my first BIG CRPG and that map was an object of fascination for me.  The map for this game is a big disappointment compared to that fond memory.  Still, I do like the blood stains on it.

I definitely knew why I refused to spend 20€ more for a metal case and a clothing map (european CE version). ^^

There was a cloth map in my CE? Sorry was too busy enjoying the game to notice or even care. ;)

My map had lots of loose threads and a minor tear. I cut off the loose threads and sealed the map so no more would appear.

I have to agree. The cloth map was the main reason I got the Collector's Edition. I am HUGELY disappointed by it. I mean, seriously... why even bother including it? It's a complete insult. It's washed out, small, entirely illegible, and therefore useless. It doesn't even look cool, it just looks bland and unidentifiable. I'm disappointed by the lack of a real manual too. I don't see myself ever buying a physical copy of a game again...

This is unrelated, but your dude looks awesome in the Blood Dragon Armor.  Anyway, I haven't gotten my copy yet, so hopefully the map looks okay.  I have tons of game maps taped to my walls, so I hope this will be decent enough.

I have a few loose threads on mine, but that will be easily corrected by a quick singing out on the driveway.... My CE does have a real manual as well, it was tucked right in with the map.

This was the lowest quality cloth map I have ever received, and I am not prone to hyperbole.

For one, there are loose threads everywhere, which is not too terrible but notable. Secondly, the colour is very, very faded and bland, and the overall detail is low. Finally, and most important, is that it does not seem to be cut well. The right side has about a 3/4" inch border whereas the left side just ends as though I am missing part of the map. In fact, where it says "West to Orlais" (I think that is what it says), the "W" is cut off a bit! I would not be surprised if mine was from a bad batch that was improperly cut and they did not bother to toss them and instead just packaged them up.

All in all I was rather disappointed, but I am not too into memorabilia so it does not devastate me by any means.

Meanwhile the EA Executives look at each other with shifty eyes.

"Yes... fraying... discoloration... it's time worn on purpose!" :P

It is this mentality that allows companies to continually lower the bar for quality while the ignorant public accepts it and continues to bleet like overfed sheep.

Why not care about a product advertised as a selling point for a certain edition of the game? Why not be disappointed when it is of inferior quality?

I really wish people acted like educated consumers as opposed to corporate-friendly drones who toe the company line for some inexplicable reason. You owe EA and BioWare nothing, so if something is wrong, why not say so? We pay them, we have the power, yet so many people think it is the other way around and we must accept what is tossed at us without question.

Nah I am nothing like that and totally agree, I play MMORPG's alot and the bar has lowered considerably. But to complain about a piece of cloth, that has nothing to do with the game or the product itself that they were selling is just plain dumb. I can even understand why so many are mad over the toolset not releasing as it was promised with the game launch. This piece of cloth did come as promised, just not up to some people's "Standards" but it's opinion based also. Others in the this same thread said they liked it :P. Personally I don't ever buy CE's as they just come with some fluff that the company put 5 cents into for an extra $20.
