Wow, some people can whine about anything. Who cares about a cloth map lmao, you paid $50 for the game not some 5 cent extra item thrown in..
It is this mentality that allows companies to continually lower the bar for quality while the ignorant public accepts it and continues to bleet like overfed sheep.
Why not care about a product advertised as a selling point for a certain edition of the game? Why not be disappointed when it is of inferior quality?
I really wish people acted like educated consumers as opposed to corporate-friendly drones who toe the company line for some inexplicable reason. You owe EA and BioWare nothing, so if something is wrong, why not say so? We pay them, we have the power, yet so many people think it is the other way around and we must accept what is tossed at us without question.
Nah I am nothing like that and totally agree, I play MMORPG's alot and the bar has lowered considerably. But to complain about a piece of cloth, that has nothing to do with the game or the product itself that they were selling is just plain dumb. I can even understand why so many are mad over the toolset not releasing as it was promised with the game launch. This piece of cloth did come as promised, just not up to some people's "Standards" but it's opinion based also. Others in the this same thread said they liked it. Personally I don't ever buy CE's as they just come with some fluff that the company put 5 cents into for an extra $20.
some people like that fluff, i dont usaly dont. but that dosent mean they wernt expecting somthing nice.

That you don't buy a CE doesn't mean that people who do should be sold pathetic mechandise. They COULD make a quality product. They chose not to, and decided to pick easy profit over giving their customers a memorable product.

I actually really like it, but then I know how hard it is to make thousands of identical maps using these materials. Similar...sure, but not identical.
Only real problem I had was the ink for the faux-blood was still drying so I got some on my fingers. Thinner worked fine, so no biggy. I'm used to it.

Yeah very bad quality. The BG2 one was so much better.
I still have a BG2 collector's edition...that packaging was great.
My map for DA:O is the same as everyone is saying...it's frayed at the edges. But, I truly think that was intentional. It's supposed to look aged and used.
How many of you who are complaining, actually use real maps? If you use maps often, when traveling overland, you know they inevitably get worn, often rain-soaked, unless you laminate them. I doubt they had laminate machines in the DA universe. So, if your DA map is worn, which was almost obviously intentional, consider it to be a tool of immersion for the game.
edit, this collector's edition is pretty nice...though, when you put it next to the collector's edition for either Age of Conan or Warhammer Online, it looks rather igsignificant.

I have to agree. The cloth map was the main reason I got the Collector's Edition. I am HUGELY disappointed by it. I mean, seriously... why even bother including it? It's a complete insult. It's washed out, small, entirely illegible, and therefore useless. It doesn't even look cool, it just looks bland and unidentifiable. I'm disappointed by the lack of a real manual too. I don't see myself ever buying a physical copy of a game again...
Yea I was bummed out too.. This is my first deluxe game purchase too. I expected something bigger than an 8x10" faded rag... the coolest thing was the CD holder and the manual is like reading an EULA... fine print, no color. I know this has got to be because EA is in the mix here. My game cd had a glob of glue right in the middle, so I hope I don't have any hiccups in the game; although a few NPC's didn't speak their lines......... I hope I don't get lead poisioning from the metal case...probably a chinese import.
But the biggest bummer was the Prima's Collection Edition guide.. It had a beautiful Art Section except you couldn't see it ...only if you put it in direct sunlight .....printing it on a brown paper towel.. come on at least have that section in glossy magazine paper. After all the work these graphic artist did no appreciation here.
I laugh now looking back ... I wish I had gotten a Bobble head.............

It is supposed to be a worm, pocket-sized map, with fraying around the edges, some worn spots and even a few drops of blood. I, for one, love how it looks.

Dude, better just move on. You are not going to get a response from Bioware on this "issue". The map was thrown into the collectors ed. as fluff. Nothing to get worked up about.
