Dragon Age 2 gave Hawke the ability to drink but since it's established beyond all doubt that Hawke is a universal badass, he/she couldn't get drunk or maybe the bartender was just giving Hawke water or something (because it's never clearly established what drink Hawke is ordering).
The only impact drinking had in DA2 was that people would cheer "Hawke!" when entering The Hanged Man in Act 3 if you drunk numerous times back in Act 1 and 2 but was that really worth all the trouble? No. So now Dragon Age 3 should give the ability to let your character get drunk. Even if it's a one off in each bar you travel to leading to a fun and humerous side quest (or even one where you get into trouble), it should be fun.
Alternatively having an option to actually control your drunk character and stumble about (like in Red Dead Redemption and GTA) would be a fun side feature too. Asides from that, wouldn't such an option add to role-play? Even some characters could note about the time you spend in taverns getting drunk which would kinda establish the fact that your character is considered a drunk.
"No. I already know enough drunks in real life."
No one would be forcing this feature onto you if it's included. I know enough mage-supportists in real life and my college recently had a rally for them but yet I don't go around asking for a pro-mage stance not to be included in DA3 because I'm pro-templar. So even if you're an anti-drunk, what would be wrong with including the option for those who want it?
