Or just let mages also be capable of handling all weapons!

I think mages should have broomsticks. Flying around on the battlefield and summoning cauldrons would make Dragon Age 47 times better.

I actually think mages should rely on nothing but magic. No silly staffs or staff-swords or anything....even armor should be purely and completely magic. Even the most devastating and complex spells should be completely possible and equally devastating without any trinket being waved around.

I would like to see the mage weapon from DA2. It had the blade on one end, so it would be a good compromise between magic and sword. I think it looked pretty good.

Using a staff made it seem like the magic was coming from the staff and not the mage themself.
Give them a tomb that maybe hangs around your waste.

I'd like to see mages using their powers with their bare hands. Way more badass.

Same. You could in DA: O, though you'd lose the boosts from the staff's stats, but DA II gives you a default staff.

... and this.

Dragon Age is more restrictive than D&D w/ Mages (Wizards, etc) and weapons.

mages should be able to use any weapon. but magic weapons need to be better, not just staffs!

they should be able to learn a spell that makes the ice or fire magic become or sword or a bow and arrow
that way it would be a choice to have a mage use a wepon

plus make the mage wepons from being what the warrior would use

After Anders' little stunt, they should distribute molotov cocktails.

I would think that mages, particularly apostates, would learn to rely on physical combat skills and know how to wield a blade. It's part of the whole 'hiding from the attention of the templars' thing - don't draw attention to yourself by keeping a giant stick on your back (and it got ridiculous when I had Hawke wielding that staff with a big honking skull on one end...).

Even if there's still the whole 'clear differentiations in builds' thing like what kept warriors from double-wielding in DA2, there should be like a few mage-exclusive swords and/or daggers, like the Spellweaver in DAO.

Can we get our Arcane warrior class back? the Warden would most likely teach that skill to other mage Wardens.

Ethereal magic to create magic bows and arrows or magic swords and such things. That would be a cool skill tree for magic.

They should change it so that mages can use all weapons, and weapon damage is directly proportional to spell damage, just like in Diablo 3.
