This is a prime example how gamers dont get taken serious, with the immature "boobs = mature" mindset.
I would however like to avoid the silly underwearsex scenes, even a fade to black is better, my imagination have no problems imagining what happens.

Yeah. The only thing wrong with the sex scenes in DAO was the underwear. Fortunately, that flaw was easily remedied by modders.
The way they approached sex in DA2 was just horrible with those fully clothed scenes.

If you're going to have sex scenes, do them properly with the appropriate nudity -- or don't do them at all!
But since there are going to be romances, so should there be sex scenes -- proper ones in the nude -- and for equality's sake - no censorship on either female or male anatomy!!

Let the controversy roll!

You know, there are kids under 17 who play DA and other rated M games. Do you honestly think it's a good idea to show them sex scenes like that? I'm going to go with "no". I like how BioWare did it in DA2, we got the point and it wasn't too revealing. And for the record, you're part of the reason why hardly anyone outside the gaming community takes gamers seriously. Hmm...I wonder how long it will take for this to get locked?

Actually its stated that the game is geared for the 18 and over crowd.

You probably think Origins scenes were risque' right? <_<

Every other consideration on the topic aside, people who are too young/easily impressed to see a sex scene between the PC and his love interest have no business playing a game series with torture, demonic possession, implied rape, dismemberments, serial killers, and so on.

If a parent has no problem with his son playing a game featuring Hespith's poem (and everything it implies) or innocent people being forced to the magical equivalent of a lobotomy, I find it puzzling that he would be worried about a scene with two romantically involved characters making love.

Are we really going there now? Christ, quick everyone go google nudity on google images so we can tell people on the forums that we've seen boobs.

It's a video game for crying out loud, we can imagine the characters having sex, we don't need to see the dong enter the vagoo.

Yeah I know that, but that doesn't kids under 18 don't play it. It's like a rated "R" movie. Kids under 17 still try and get in and see it.

The romance scene with Triss in the elven ruins what masterfully done. So, I'd say YES!
The Witcher 2 is a perfect example of a 'Mature' game. The dialogue, story, subplots, sex scenes, language. Everything is done in a mature way. DA3 should be the same.:D

Yeah they don't, but still kids go and buy the game anyway. I guess everyone is missing the point I'm trying to make here.

ME3's showed more skin and were tasteful and there was NO public backlash about them.

They show far worse things in other countries when it comes to sex and TV and the funnny thing those countries have the lowest rape and teen birth statistics than America does.

Its 2012. We need to stop trying live in the Leave it to Beaver/50s era.    I'm NOT saying show porn but we need stop being so puritanical

I would not expect DA:2 love scenes if I were you. I suspect they will be different for all of the games.

I laughed hard as hell when I saw "dong enter the vagoo".

I agree that BioWare shouldn't go that far, but if we were to put nudity in the game, female breasts would be the MOST we'd get from it. And for the player to essentially be able to choose whether to censor it or not in the game, why not?

If we start worrying about people who shouldn't play the game but might put their hands on it nonetheless, we might as well put out of DA3 every mature or "unsafe" element: violence, racism, oppression, terrorism, etc.

I find all of them a lot more unsettling than sexuality.

Incidentally, I wasn't particularly impressed by The Witcher 2's sex scene (or by the game in general - first one was a lot better) - I found it a little juvenile and over-the-top.

But this fear of sexuality and nudity (which, again, are not automatically the same thing as porn), as if video games are a kiddie's media that should steer away from boobies "coz theyre for grown-ups", is kind of baffling.

You guys wanted Tolkien to write how Aragon screwed women left and right, or how Gimli and Legolas had a gay affaire?

Arguably the DA series has more in common with the likes of ASoIaF, which does feature main characters doing both those thing.

Both approaches can work, and I'm confident the DA writers will go with whatever they feel is most fitting for the story they are telling and the characters they are writing and so on.

I think BioWare should just make fade to black scenes. If you can't do a sex scene(without goofy underwear), either because of fear of the media, or artistic integrity then just don't do it.

It reminds me of  TNA wrestling when they try to be edgy by having a bunch of adults throw the word frick into every other sentence, they end up coming out of it looking like a bunch of children.

I've gotten to the point where I really don't care about how they do those scenes.

As long as they aren't as awkward as the first game's.

Kids can see anything they're curious about on the internet. An "M" rated game having such a scene (after numerous corresponding dialogue) with nudity would be nice but BioWare only makes games with obscene amounts of blood, dead bodies, and cursing. Can't have nudity, oh god no.

<defensive> Hey that's better than fiddlesticks...lulz, but seriously i agree. A scene with a kiss then FTB would be good.

As long as romances are more than shameless fanservice, I don't care how they do them.

Do not waaaaant D:

If anything, there should be less sexy romance scenes than have appeared in previous Bioware games... there just doesn't seem to be any way to escape the uncanny valley there and it just ends up looking weird and uncomfortable. That was one of the reasons why Tali's and Garrus' romances were my favorites in Mass Effect: the cinematics never crossed the line from "romantic" to "vaguely unsettling".

Really, what's wrong with a fade-to-black? Same effect for story purposes, way easier to do tastefully, and doesn't make the player watch character models colliding awkwardly. Pandering to a few people's desire to see pixelated body parts wouldn't make the game any more mature or dramatic or thought-provoking.

If it fits the storyline/character I say they should, but not show nudity for the sake of showing nudity imo, it should be done in a tasteful way for story reasons.

And The Witcher 2 was not done in a tasteful way at all.

So by your "logic" everything should just be censored because there's a chance that kids might see it.

It is just much of a compromise of artistic integrity to include a graphic sex scene solely to spite a taboo than it is to not include one solely to comply with said taboo.

I would rather see "consequences of decisions" Witcher style because that's something DA2 desperately needed.
You will never recieve boobies in the game that is licensed by EA <_<
