I am fine with how BioWare does their sex scenes, and they did a good job with them in DA2. I would like them to be naked if the situation calls for it though. No taking showers in your underwear, that just pulls you right out of the scene.

I think the Witcher 2 sex scenes should remain in the Witcher 2. Its a perfect fit for that game as its a pretty dark and disturbed universe. Dragon Age is much less so and thus should be less graphic, though I think having clothed sex is pretty ridiculous.

Unless they are costumes.

Why the F not? it's not like any one of us would be scared for life for seeing some private parts is it? Don't get me wrong, I don't think they should flash out boobs just for the sake of it but at least make love scenes in which the characters are not waring under ware. I mean, really, who does that!?

You know, there are kids under 17 who play DA and other rated M games. Do you honestly think it's a good idea to show them sex scenes like that? I'm going to go with "no". I like how BioWare did it in DA2, we got the point and it wasn't too revealing. And for the record, you're part of the reason why hardly anyone outside the gaming community takes gamers seriously. Hmm...I wonder how long it will take for this to get locked?

It says "M" on the box. If parents are buying games for there under-17 year olds then they are stupid. Games are rated what they are for a reason or there is no point in having a ratings system, A parent should not give there son or daughter an NC-17 Movie so why whould they give them an M rated game?

Saying "But kids would play it!" is a bullsh*t excuse.

Mass Effect 1 did fine with nudity, DA Origins did fine with it, Heavy Rain did fine with it.

The Witcher is a real game for hardcore gamers. While, BioWare makes game for the mainstream and of course art. I don't think BioWare will ever make anything controversial. Because, in North America boobies kills more then guns.

Indifferent to this.

Not that I don't love nipples or anything, but games as a medium have yet to include nudity in a way that doesn't feel like having boobies just for the sake of having boobies. Nudity in games immediately conjures up images of sex-starved teenagers and frat boys giggling and high-fiving each other during the scene. Maybe a little crotch-rubbing when their buddies aren't looking.

If you're going to have a sex scene, I'd go along the lines of the ME1 formula with nudity where no tacos or dongly bits are showing. Fade to black following heavily implied naked hand-holding is fine, too. Underwear sex is silly.

Oh for crying out loud.... a real game, really?

Super Mario Bros. is more of a game than the Witcher 2.

Less is more. How about those shameful moments after asking the madam at the Pearl in DA:O to surprise you and you end up in your small clothes in an awkward moment with a nug or intimidating hammer? No skinemax cut scene needed.

Seriously, I really don't care. I just want a great game. Having an 'awesome' button for sex just seems a bit juvenile.

I don't care either way. I would prefer to avoid underwear sex/showers/whatever but there are ways for the characters to be naked and not show anything (camera angles, etc...) like in ME1 for example. Though claiming TW2 as having serious sex scenes is silly to me, Geralt wears pants during sex after all X_X

Haha, really?
So much elitism in such a short sentence.

I see nothing wrong with depicting nudity when nudity is apropriate, but Witcher-level sex scenes only made me cringe and want to skip them entirely. It felt awkward, uncanny valleyish and didn't really add much if anything to the game.
In DA and ME3, I didn't have much of a problem with the screenplay of the scenes, only with the inappropriate underwear.
Especially Traynor's. Who wears underwear while taking a bath?!

If OP said sex scenes like the ones in ME1, I'd be all for it, wouldn't even think twice. But the OP used Witcher. And Witcher style sex only makes me feel embarrassed for the actors and animators involved.

And if BioWare will still ant to use the underwear scenes, do everyone a favour and just do a fade to black. It's cheaper for them and we won't be left dumbfounded.

Amen. I'm not a fan of The Witcher 2 sex scenes in DA3, but that's only because I don't feel like it would fit in the Dragon Age universe. The excuse that kids under 17 are going to play it is stupid. There's a freaking M on the box! And if you turn the little case over you see why it was given that rating! It literally takes like 5 seconds to do. If you don't want your kids to play a game with nudity don't buy them a game that says nudity on the back of the case! It's as simple as that. If parents don't do that then that's their problem, not the game developers.

Yes it is. It got highscores, levels, it's easy to learn and pick up, you can play it with friends, it's for all ages, powerups and most of all, it's fun and doesn't take itself serious.

I watched them and they felt cheap imo. I don't mind being graphic, but I want them to be romantic, that's why I call them romance scenes and not sex scenes.

As I already wrote somewhere in the thread, I am no TW2 fan. In fact, I thought it was, disappointingly, a huge step backwards from its predecessor.

Still, nearly none of the criteria you mention here objectively qualify a good game. Some could even be reversed - why should "it's easy to learn" be a quality compared to "it's complex, difficult and require planning and skill to be mastered"? Purely subjective.

Yes, yes it does have those things. And don't get me wrong I love those things. But the story, the characters, and the combat for The Witcher 2 are freaking epic. The Witcher 2 blew my mind. I couldn't stop playing it. And maybe I like games that take themselves seriously? I get so tired of kiddy games after a while. When I play a game I want to be invested in the world that that game creates. I like Super Mario Bros, dont get me wrong....but it didn't touch The Witcher 2 in that regard imho.
