Can we please have Ariane from the Witch Hunt DLC as companion in DA3?

In theory, I would love to have her. In practice, BioWare almost always changes DA companion personalities when they move them from one game to another. Just look at Merrill and Anders. If they decide they want to make a completely different character that happens to share her name, then I don't want them to bother.

The main reason I'd like Ariane and Finn (you've talked me into liking him) back is I think that whatever was in the book Morrigan stole from the Dalish was important, I'd like know what was in it.

Come on. Ariane was tough, sassy, beautiful, and had lots of charm and personality. She NEEDS to be in DA3.

I bet if you asked 100 Dragon Age players who that character was only 10-12 would be able to answer correctly so I doubt they would waste resources like that.

Merrill was a character in DAO that only players who played Dalish Elves MIGHT have remembered.

The story issues of Witch Hunt are scary enough as is. (OGB, Warden's fate, etc). I fully expect BioWare to assume that this DLC didn't happen at all.

Not really when you consider only so many players played the Dalish Elf Origin and only so many players played Witch Hunt.
Hell, Isabela was completely missable in DAO.
In the end, the writers can bring ANY character back(major or minor) and make it work if they want to.

I don't expect them as companions to be honest, though I'd like them to appear all the same.
