Do we want Loghain in DA3? (If he lived of course)

Of course BioWare shot themselves in the foot with this as that story follows their canon story with Alistair being king of Ferelden so I'm not sure the events of this comic will ever make it into future games, unless they canonize the king of Ferelden decision in the future.

Edit: And even then he might just try anyway.

Is there any reason why Drunkistair or Wardistair couldn't have done more or less the same thing that Kingistair does in Silent Grove?

Was it ever really confirmed that he died?
Last thing I remember is Anora sentences him to death, but we never see him get killed. Is his execution mentioned anywhere at all?
Just thinking like BioWare here. "If it isn't explicitly stated then we can just change it. Even if it is then we can change it anyway"

Since The Silent Grove makes no secret of it that Maric is actually still alive, I would be very interested in seeing Loghain's reaction when he sees Maric again, or even learns of his survival.

I believe David Gaider said that the book/comic "canon" does not dictate the canon events of the games...so while Alistair might be King there, that doesn't stop the games from allowing imports where he is a warden/drunk/dead.
The Witcher games were created with this assumption (the games are not going to be faithful to the books), so I think it can work fine.

There is that, but if he sacrifices himself in the final battle to kill the Archdemon, he's definitely dead.

In ultimate sacrifice Alistair there's pretty much no way that he lives. Versus the possibility of escaping from Anora executing him.

He'd have problems, yeah. But at least we're dealing with more Alistairs than just King Alistair.
And they could always say Anora locked him up in Fort Drakon in an iron mask or something.

True. Somehow I completely forgot he can also die fighting the archdemon..

Loghain never dies! He lives in all playthroughs.
I chopped his head off.
Same here for all but one of my playthroughs. On my first playthrough I was trying to be a saint, so when I was offered to spare Loghain I figured I'd do it, plus I figured there'd be an achievement for it. Ever since then though I couldn't bring myself to spare him though. I hate him, not as much after reading the books, but still hate him.

Although, in an indirect manner, I wouldn't be surprised if he popped up as someone willing to help the Inquisitor if he somehow thought it would help Ferelden gain some land from Orlais. So sorta like a questgiver or something

I have no problem with him coming back (although he is dead in all my playthroughs), but it's not like he can do all that much. He's a Grey Warden now. They're neutral. Only way he could DIRECTLY get involved is if the Wardens were attacked, and the Templars aren't stupid enough to do that.

Abominations and demons however are stupid enough to attack the Grey Wardens. I expect we'll be seeing some scenes where cities/villages are invaded by demons and Loghain could help fight them off.
