DA2 has it's pros and cons, but overall I liked a lot of the things they did different in that game.

-Sarcasm was great (most of the time)
-all romances being available to any gender
-Isabela/Varric
-I liked the various weapons and armor that made you and your companions unique in looks
-Friendship/Rivalry
-I actually liked the Hawke voices so I do not mind if they voice the protagonist again so long as they sound like they did and not stilted like MShep
-I liked the fact that the sustained abilities stayed on after a fight, but unlike Origins, you did not see their effect outside of battle. In DAO it made it really distracting in conversations.
-They got the combat right in the DLC, and I would not mind to see more of that. In fact, I do like the difference in combat depending on the class you were. The rogue should be acrobatic and fast, sure, tone down the exaggeration of kicking flasks and jumping 10 feet in the air, but I appreciated the distinction of how fast they were compared to the other classes.

YES YES YES YES

+1

You can shoot me for this, but I actually preferred the layout of the skill trees in DA2. It just... flowed.

I liked the layout of the skills, but there were too few skills, they took out the most powerful spells and choosing a specialization lost it's sense and reason to be there.

Cullen, Varric, Serendipity, Jethann, the interesting loading screens, the whole day/night thing, the mirror of transformation... That's it I think.

Isabela's Boobs
Isabela's Boots
...Isabela
A dwarf that's not Varric, I know for a fact that there are hundreds of them. So that shouldn't be hard
That awesome face-destroying mirror. You can hold off on the rest of the BE stuff.
Blurd majik
60 second cooldown on healing spells and potions........It made me appreciate your humor Bioware.

The characters. There were a lot of good ones.

I thought the cinematography and camera angles were an improvement from DA:O and well done overall (although sometimes they got a bit carried away, like in All That Remains).

Voiced protagonist, I think we have to have it. It would be too weird to go back to silence. (Although I do want more origin choices, so there's a conundrum to solve.)

The skill trees were much better. I hated having to take Earthquake to get Petrify in Origins, for instance. DA2 did a really good job with eliminating that annoyance. Character builds were less formulaic than in Origins.

Inclusiveness in the romances. DA2 was awesome about that.

Orlesians.

Stylized companion armor (while being able to switch them out like in Origins). I didn't like the shapeless lumps that Oghren, Sigrun, Sten and the like became when wearing massive armor.

The protagonist being able to do things other than quests, but that contribute to the richness of your overall experience. Think the Fable series. (Okay that was more a general wish rather than a DA2 thing...I cheated. :P)

Companion recruitment quests NOT being attached to the main questline in a determinist way! This grated on my nerves in Awakening especially--oh look I just recruited this cleavage-baring elven harpy, but now the game's over right away and she can't even take the joining ceremony. <_< DA2 did it well with Merrill and Anders, you have to have them to advance out of Act I, but you don't feel compelled to wrap up your game and you don't have quest options closed off to you when you recruit them. Same with Fenris and Isabela.

There's plenty more I'm sure. DA2 had some very good component parts, which we tend to forget at times I think.

Mirror from the Black Emporium is about the only thing from DA ][ I'd dearly miss. Legacy dungeon design and combat was nice as well, and should be built on.

Why does every single companion have to be bisexual? I'm genuinely curious about why everybody seems to want this. Can't it just be like DAO, except with more companions to choose from?

You should look up one of Gaider's previous responses to this objection.

Including it doesn't change your personal playthrough at all, it's more inclusive and it really matters to a lot of people. Why object?

If they just add more LI you will probably (a) see a decline in overall romance quality (B) almost no friendship paths like Mass Effect 2 © not all romances being treated equally like Mass Effect 3, etc.

As for the actual orientation part. IDK I just consider them pc-sexual. The only character in DA ][ my Hawke would label bisexual would be Isabela. The others my Hawke didn't know their preference simply because he didn't hit on them/ I ignore the meta game. I guess you do hear things ilke Sebastian hitting on Bethany, Anders and Isabela nostaliga, Isabela with Fenris, etc. But even then a few conversation pieces aren't enough to conclude character is x orientation.

Because the notion that almost everyone (read: everyone normal) is exclusively heterosexual is a parochial notion that grew out of the pseudoscientific aberrant psychology of 19th- and early-mid 20th-century England and the United States in order to reify the existing power relations in society between heteronormative males and all others, and I see typical bisexuality in Thedas as a thumb in the eye to this pigheaded and hamfisted idea.

That's not really why, but I'm just going to say that from now on because if people haven't come to understand it by now after countless pages on this forum and elsewhere have been written about the topic, then I deserve to put my lesbian professor of gender studies cap on.

People really like stuff from Dragon Age 2? Rivalry pales in comparison to being confronted by your friends if you step on their values. I much preferred being confronted, it showed that your companions at least had some balls.

The only thing I'd like to keep from Dragon Age 2 are the race designs. I liked the greater diversification. Everything else: DA:O version, please.

I'd like to see the Rivalry and Friendship system again.

It's has it's problems - Particularly in the romance department - but if it can somehow integrate dialogue choices as well as Rivalry/Friendship scale it could be an awesome system. Even without being fine tuned, it's still better than the standard Affection system of Dragon Age Origins.

Cross class Combos give an additional strategic element to the combat that I really enjoyed. A lot. I'd like to see them stay in the franchise.

Force Mage is by far the greatest specialization I've seen, I'd like to see it come back for Dragon Age 3 - The amount of battlefield control that is possible is mind-blowing and I love it.

Heck, if I had to pick one thing it would be Force Mage. I need it, it's like an addiction... I just can't say no.

Merrill. No more, "everyone's bi! Yay!!!!", please let the characters be unique individuals who aren't simply Hawke-sexual 2.0. If a character is bi, they're bi; if they're gay, they're gay; and if they're straight, they're straight; no need to make the characters walking lovebots for the sake of appeasement. Keep voiced protagonist. And keep the combat fluid and paced.

Because apparently, all of BSN hates Dragon Age 2. Is there anything anybody wants in Inquisition that's from DA2?

Some of the abilities were cool. While I didn't like the explodyness as a result of executing one of said abilities, the moves themselves were pretty cool.

And the talent trees themselves.

 * Branching Skill Trees: I liked this much better in DA2 than DAO's boring skill brick system. (Although I'd like to see the trees significantly expanded, with more active and passive abilities). Also, I'm glad they got rid of the other Skill thing, the one with Charisma, Herbalism, and whatever. If they're going to include non-combat skills, I'd like them to be completely seperate from our combat skills.

* Intent-Indicators in Dialogue: I liked these. I just wish it had been refined a bit, with more variety in actual effect on the game and NPCs.

* Distinct Companion Appearance: Gaider's blog describes exactly what I want, so no need to bother there.

* "Action" button: Sounds silly, but I really liked that I could click the middle mouse button and the character would either auto-loot a nearby target, or auto-attack a nearby target. Removed an unnecessary obstacle to gameplay.

Those two don't go together.

They can't be your 'bros' if they want to bone you.

A character being heterosexual, bisexual or homosexual, but having no interest in the PC? That'd work with what you mentioned. Otherwise no.
