So, I don't know if this thread has been made, but since Dragon Age III would most likely have co-op multiplayer, what do you guys expect from it. Will if **** with the story as in the case of Mass Effect 3? Will it be something worth playing? What do you think the customization, story (if any), or anything of that sort would be like?

If I'm late on something, or a thread like this had already been made, let me know, and I apologize if I am.

Well first off I would like it to affect single player. Not in a way that changes the story, but extra gold/items from multiplayer would be cool.

The War/EMS thing wasn't too bad in ME3, and with extended cut it no longer requires multiplayer to get the Shepard survives ending. I would like to be able to get the "best" ending for DA3 without having to do all the exploration on every single playthrough(quite time consuming on subsequent ME3 playthroughs if no multiplayer is involved. Doable, but time consuming).

You are probably right about a co-op function.
Sadly, any multiplayer option usually means that the story suffers because of it.
Controversial topic to say the least.

Bioware probably no longer decides its own budgets. EA probably allocates X amount of money for single player content and Y amount of money for multiplayer. In other words, even if the game didn't have multiplayer, it would still only be operating with X amount of money for single player. Given the apparent profitability of ME3 multiplayer(enough to fund multiple free dlcs) in the long run this can only increase their profits and will mean more total budget allocation in the future.

1. I want it to be fun.
2. I do not want it to alter the single player narrative in any fashion.
3. If it provides additional items, money, or XP, to single player... I'd be fine with that.

Just no, the multyplayer, should have nothing to do with singleplayer, its storyline or its items or anything, Some games should never have mp, because the sp its just so epic. Also how you think it will work? DA is pretty tactical so i doubt you can press SPACE to pause the game whenever you are overwhelmed, also the items, how would they be? you can chose whatever gear you want with your desired enchantments? Or you think you can import your character? Just no.. leave the mp where it belongs, in trash.

First off, throw your use of "epic" out the window. It is possible for MP to be epic, because epic is a word with a meaning and not just a code word for good. 48 vs 48 sieges in Age of Conan were epic. Dozens of people teaming up to take on a dragon in GW2 is epic. It is possible for something to not be epic at all and still be very good. Take for example Leliana's personal quest to kill/deal with her betrayer in DA:O. Confronting someone in a small house with their handful of guards is not epic. Epic is a term implying grandiosity of scale.

I have no idea how it will work. Let's leave evaluating how the MP gameplay functions for a later date when we actually have a clue about it, should it officially exist. Which everyone is pretty sure it does.

I have no idea how items would be. As long as their presence or lack thereof does not enhance or hamper the narrative of single player in any way, I don't see how it matters.

No-one is forcing you to play multiplayer. I did not play ME3 multiplayer. Many of my friends do. They enjoy it. I do not presume to tell them things they enjoy belong in the trash, because I am not an ****.

I take it you are not familiar with Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights?

As you see i said SOME, also we are talking about a huge game, tons of data of graphics, animation, and script, you think DA its the same with NW or BG? Maybe in some dark corner of this universe is, but at a much, much greater scale. They would only complicate their work if they think about mp.

Knowing EA there will be some incentive for people who are only interested in playing the single player campaign to play multiplayer. It will also feature a system that not only justifies but also pushes people towards microtransactions.

Yeah I'm already NOT interested in the MP.

I do not know what kind of multiplayer/coop/whatever would be in DA3

I do not care what kind of multiplayer may be in DA3

I do not want multiplayer in DA3

And if it does end up being in DA3, there is no way I'm paying full price. I will wait several months or pick it up used, if I buy it at all. I play Dragon Age to play through narrative-heavy epic rpg storylines. Not just to pwn darkspawn.

Dragonfield 3. Nuff said. Epic scale and flawless execution required. Dresses for girls, big swords for guys. Micro transactions etc etc.

I really really don't want multiplayer. Or if there was any, maybe some split-screen would be fun, but that ship has sailed a long time ago.
If there is multiplayer, I hope that it's completelly optional at least.

You know, in a perfect world, competitive scenario multiplayer, based on key battles (that are only shown in cutscene or something similar) could work really nicely.
Provided of course we finally get past the "it's only roleplaying if the combat is slow, clunky and statbased enough to make immersion impossible" -stick

i want to throw a fantrum every time i see it even mentioned.

in the interests of keeping it civil...

if introduced i believe it shouldn't be forced on people who prefer single player.
in no way shape or form do i think it would be beneficial to penalize or even withhold reward from those of us who prefer to fly solo.
also, if people simply MUST do this, then i believe it should have ZERO impact on the story. just let it be something people do for lutz.

i will now stop, logoff, and collect myself before i throw an epic fit.

What Labargegrrrl & M2S Solid Josh said.

The inclusion of MP in DA:I will result in my not pre-ordering or buying it on release. I'll waiting until I'm certain that it doesn't affect the SP game in any way.

I trusted them when they said all content was available to SP players in ME3 and then they held the best ending to ransom. I won't be suckered again.

First of all, the multiplayer in ME3 didn't **** anything. In fact, I didn't see how it was the end of the world as we know by adding it. I get annoyed when people blame ME3 faults on multiplayer.

Second, multiplayer on DA3 will probably be similar to ME3 in which some sort of war or battle will be happening and you'll be choosing a side to fight on the conflict. Not sure how they'll handle it.

Either way I don't care for it but like ME3 might be enjoyable for a few games.

Ugh, this is definitely one game that I can't see MP being necessary. On the other hand, I actually enjoyed ME3s MP, so I guess I won't complain too loudly if they announce that's the direction their going, at least not until I actually play it.

Stupid multiplayer. I play games to get away from people, not to play with them.
If I wanted company, I'd go out or play an MMORPG.

There's also the fact that in order to play online on the xbox you need a gold account...which costs you. So I have absolutely no use for MP.

If multiplayer is good, and does not detract from singleplayer in any way or force people to play it to get good singleplayer results, I don't see any reason why it should not exist.

That being said, if DA3 is anything like the previous incarnations of the series, I have no idea how multiplayer would be incorporated into this one.

Same here. I'm not interested in MP in an RPG, especially a co-op PvE thing (PvP done right would require a game of its own and I don't see it as an option).

There are tons of other games out there with some kind of MP, I'm not looking forward to it in Dragon Age too.
