Those of us who played DAO should fondly remember the quest, Captured!

For those who don't recall it, you could miss this quest. To get it, you had to surrender to or lose to Ser Cauthrien in the Arl of Denerim's Estate(when rescuing Anora from captivity).

If Alistair was in The Warden's party, both of them are taken into Fort Drakon and held in a cell(if Alistair wasn't in the party, The Warden was captured alone).

There were two options to save The Warden with or without Alistair from captivity-

A. Choose any two available companions to attempt a rescue by fooling their way into the Fort

B. Attempt a jailbreak as The Warden and possibly Alistair

The sheer amount of options and branching paths in this quest made it one of if not my absolute favorite quest in all of DA.

I want more quests with this level of branching. Just look at the sheer amount of available choices in the link at the top of the page. Loved it.

Anyone up for more?

That quest was awesome (oh, how I love the Broma Brothers) and I would love to have more branching lines in future game quests.

I loved this. You had a different adventure that all started with you in your underwear. That is how a real adventurer rolls.

Mission Checkpoints, with the capability to pass or fail depending on which squadmates you chose to take, which one does the talking, with opportunities to get by in the game world if you happened to fail the persuade checks.

God it was awesome. I want MOAR.

Yeah I'll say it, it was my favorite quest in the DA franchise. It was built in incredible fashion, and OH MY GOD IT WAS FUNNY.

That was a lot of fun.

Generally speaking, more dynamism is definitely something I want from DA3. At the opening of DA2 before you've gotten into the city, that quest can play out in several different ways (kill the one dude, take his bribe, talk to Athenril instead, doublecross her....). It made me feel like there were at least a few different pathways, even if they did all lead to the same place (in this example anyway).

These kind of things just got rarer and rarer as the game went on, I thought. I'd like to feel like every time I play a quest, it doesn't have to play out in exactly the same way.

Yes, but a mission like this, needs to be done with some consequences in the next game. I liked the fact that if you chose to wait it out, depending on who came to rescue you. Different attempts to get in to fort draken where attempted by your companions. Maybe depending on who you choose death to some of your companions might occur or if in jail with a companion that companion might be executed etc...

Nah. The game needs quests that don't lead to death and sadness all around(which it has enough of, looking at you DA2).

Needs more happy happy fun time sunshine and friendships and rainbows everywhere.

Ok then maybe just get tortured or something haha. That was a fun mission though I remember surrendering through multiple playthroughs to see what different characters would do to try to get in. Some where funny. I think oghren and sten was a good one, also wynne and morrigan. I can see if they made it fun, it would be hard for someone to die, but if it's a serious jailbreak then I expect at least some torture! Haha.

When I entered this thread I thought it would be about GW2 dynamic questing. I did enjoy that particular quest, and having lots of options to achieve a goal is always loads of fun.

You can do that later, actually.

If you surrender or fall to Ser Cauthrein prior to Captured!, she'll be alive and try to stop you from entering the Landsmeet.

If you so choose, kill her there.

See? Options.

DA3 needs this.

If you don't kill her in fort darken, you get a chance just before the landsmeet. :)

No worries!

Honestly, its worth surrendering just to get that quest.

I hope DA3 has more quests like Captured!

WANT.
A quest like 'Captured!' in DA3 would be awesome, if it could live up to 'Captured!' or do an even better job! :D

I wonder what sort of permutations or what type of quest it could be though.

Agreed. I would defeat Cauthrien for the Summer Sword, then allow the archers to defeat me once i had it. Seeing Morrigan disguised as a sister of the Chantry along with Leliana was priceless.

What "quest" couldn't be handled like this. Most importantly - what quest could not have conditions under which it's listed as failed - and where the game would then continue without the player noticing, down a different path, with consequences immediately, or much later in the game.

I would surrender just to keep the peace. Ahh, such fond memories of the lulz.

Rabbit was a better persuader than most of the squad. lol
