Sorry to hear about the lousy server and player experience. People were touchy and quick to kick with the operation this weekend. That should settle down when the operation is over. As for how to start out and be competitive, here is my advice:
1) Weapons start out weak, and therefore weapons-based classes are gimped when you start out. You will have better luck with power-based classes, since you can level characters faster than weapons. Level your Engineer and Adept up to 20 and keep them there. Keep your cooldowns low and spam powers. You can deal plenty of damage that way.
2) If you want to get viable weapons quickly, buy the Recruit packs. You won't get the flashy guns, but the basic ones aren't bad to start out with. The basic ones are also lighter weight and will compliment the caster classes well. IMO, most weapons don't really become viable until level 5. After that they become viable for weapons-based classes. Another good reason to start this way is because you may get these guns with the Veteran packs. If you upgrade them or max them out with Recruit packs, you will do it cheaper than getting them in the Veteran packs.
3) Once you get some decent guns in the Recruit packs, or if you decide to skip them, buy the Veteran packs. This will get you the Uncommon weapons. At higher levels, these are viable on Silver, and many are viable on Gold or Platinum. The Veteran packs will also begin unlocking some of the Uncommon characters, including some non-humans.
4) Avoid the temptation to only buy the Spectre or Premium Spectre packs. Yes, it's nice to have the Rare characters and weapons. However, it's not a good use of your credits when starting out. A level 10 Uncommon weapon will beat a level 1 Rare weapon every time. That being said, save up and treat yourself once in a while. The Rare characters are worth trying to get once you have established some decent gear. Most of the Rare weapons are decent on Bronze at level 1, so no big loss if you get those instead of characters.
Yes. Max out Drone and Overload for Crowd Control. Refer to YouTube if you need specifics. This is simply the easiest way to play ME3 MP and will get you the furthest fastest.MasterReefa wrote...
Welcome to the party. I would suggest a human engineer with anything not too heavy. Definitely an easy class to use.
Actually, max your common items / characters with Recruit Packs on Bronze, b/c you can get 3 per match vs. 1/2 per match. THEN go to Silver and buy Vet. Packs. Don't waste your Vet. Packs unlocking common weapons / characters.Ace-Hood wrote...
Play bronze and silver and start out buying vet. packs

Do you know any kids that work cheap? You can pay them $5 a day to play and save up your credits. That way you can go about your normal business and because the children are playing a game, child labor laws can't touch you. I have a bunch of illegal cousins, how the hell do you think I maxed my mani. Hahahaha, I'm going to Hell. I am just kidding about this whole post BTW.
