Dude, sorry you've had such a bad experience with the game. I would offer to run you through a few rounds to get some credits and what not, but I'm on the X-box. As far as connectivity goes I have to say in all my time with Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, i've only had two days where I had any connectivity issues at all. This might just be for me or the X-box, but thats how it is.

I've heard other PC gamers complaining about server issues this weekend so there might be something there, but I have to second others opinion about the problems most likely being on your end. I hope you solve it and get to have a better experience with the game soon. It really is a good, fun game.

Sorry to hear about the lousy server and player experience. People were touchy and quick to kick with the operation this weekend. That should settle down when the operation is over. As for how to start out and be competitive, here is my advice:

1) Weapons start out weak, and therefore weapons-based classes are gimped when you start out. You will have better luck with power-based classes, since you can level characters faster than weapons. Level your Engineer and Adept up to 20 and keep them there. Keep your cooldowns low and spam powers. You can deal plenty of damage that way.

2) If you want to get viable weapons quickly, buy the Recruit packs. You won't get the flashy guns, but the basic ones aren't bad to start out with. The basic ones are also lighter weight and will compliment the caster classes well. IMO, most weapons don't really become viable until level 5. After that they become viable for weapons-based classes. Another good reason to start this way is because you may get these guns with the Veteran packs. If you upgrade them or max them out with Recruit packs, you will do it cheaper than getting them in the Veteran packs.

3) Once you get some decent guns in the Recruit packs, or if you decide to skip them, buy the Veteran packs. This will get you the Uncommon weapons. At higher levels, these are viable on Silver, and many are viable on Gold or Platinum. The Veteran packs will also begin unlocking some of the Uncommon characters, including some non-humans.

4) Avoid the temptation to only buy the Spectre or Premium Spectre packs. Yes, it's nice to have the Rare characters and weapons. However, it's not a good use of your credits when starting out. A level 10 Uncommon weapon will beat a level 1 Rare weapon every time. That being said, save up and treat yourself once in a while. The Rare characters are worth trying to get once you have established some decent gear. Most of the Rare weapons are decent on Bronze at level 1, so no big loss if you get those instead of characters.

Welcome to the party. I would suggest a human engineer with anything not too heavy. Definitely an easy class to use.

Yes. Max out Drone and Overload for Crowd Control. Refer to YouTube if you need specifics. This is simply the easiest way to play ME3 MP and will get you the furthest fastest.

Play bronze and silver and start out buying vet. packs

Actually, max your common items / characters with Recruit Packs on Bronze, b/c you can get 3 per match vs. 1/2 per match. THEN go to Silver and buy Vet. Packs. Don't waste your Vet. Packs unlocking common weapons / characters.

Go to Gold as soon as your UC items / characters are maxed and buy SPs.

I like to wire my controller and the Xbox to the net directly, most of the lag is gone, the disconnection is not under my control but gym overall Internet connection is good so I have only few of them.

Get a pc/Mac and chech with one of those software if ou can constantly send packets out/in: if you don't, is probably your Internet connection.

As a beginner even a human sentinel warp/throw combo with an avenger is not bad if you like the biotics explosion. I love the engi class and the drone is an optimal distraction for the enemy.

Silver is fine, gold you might get kiks, but if you find a good lobby to stay is not a bad idea to check it out. I just feel that you might not have too much firepower for the level...

Have fun!

Btw, we did a gold run with 4 avenger X the other day and even if it was painfully funny we extract, so do not be shy to get veterans packs and max the basic weapons

First of all, i welcome you to MP and the BSN.

Now, i would recomend you to buy recruitment packs until you have your common weapons maxed, this packs help you to get even more consumables like medigel, ops pack, cobra missiles and ammo than veteran, spectre, and premium spectre , so when you start buying veteran, i won't be needed to buy the jumbo packs.

OP Play with this man (RedJohn) he will lead you to the promised land. Learn from him, and lookup INVADERONE as well, he is an XBOX pro but he recently went to PC so he could possibly help you out as well.

also almost everything everyone else has said is good advice listen to it and learn to ignore the trolls

I don't see how that matters. It takes a long time to unlock everything no matter how you do it, unless you want to spend real money to purchase packs. If he wants to get competitive quickly, then he needs to start out with the right classes and upgrade the cheap weapons first, until he has the money to unlock the better ones.

IMPORTANT

I hope you read it, since I didn't found anybody saying it.

Maybe you already saw it somewhere, but there's two major bugs that will ruin your experience, and will make you be kicked from several lobbies:

- The SMG Ultra Light Material bug - It will say on the screen that you got the cooldown bonus, but you didn't, it don't work, don't have effect at all. The only thing it will do is work as a "noob flag", so people will see you don't know what you are doing, and will kick you.
It work only in two situations: First, with the Geth SMG, for unknown reason it work on her. Second, if you use a pistol with ULM (pistol ULM work normally) and a SMG with ULM, the SMG ULM will work.

So don't forget, SMG ULM only on Geth SMG and if you use a pistol with ULM too.

- The Vanguard bug - don't try to play as vanguard without being the host. If you do, and you die charging, you gonna get bugged. You will fly through the scenario and become a liability to the team. Only play vanguard as host, otherwise people will kick you, or you will have a bad time with a bugged char.

A good build is the human engineer or the turian sentinel. Try to get more common and uncommon weapons, there's good weapon between them. Try the Phaeston on the Turian, The vindicator on caster chars (such as adepts), or the phalanx. They are all good for gold, so try to unlock them into X, them you go for rares and ultra rares..

Play Bronze until you get a good feel for the game; then try Silver.

Build up a friends list. Playing with friends who have been there is the best way to move up to a more difficult match level.

I suggest building up your manifest from the bottom. Buy Vet packs to begin with. Ultra Rare weapons are great to have but the drop rate from the store is abysmal. However they're your credits, spend them as you will.

Have fun and don't take rude people personally.

Do you know any kids that work cheap? You can pay them $5 a day to play and save up your credits. That way you can go about your normal business and because the children are playing a game, child labor laws can't touch you. I have a bunch of illegal cousins, how the hell do you think I maxed my mani. Hahahaha, I'm going to Hell. I am just kidding about this whole post BTW.
