Cassandra's so Awesome she can defeat all the opposition by herself.  She's too Manly to be a Companion.

Maybe Cassandra should be the protagonist?

Perhaps we'll finally move onto companions which can do things by themselves.

Anders could do plenty of stuff all by himself, and everybody in the playerbase loved him for it :P

I thought this was one thing that DA2 had over Origins, it felt like my companions had lives and were doing things while i was not there - especially Varic, Aveline, Anders and Merril.

As for Cassandra, she would make a fine companion.

I was actually happy he managed to do it without my protagonist's help, made it feel like he was actually competent.

I dont think shes too "manly", but I think at this point shes too much a leader or used to doing things her way to be a companion.

I'm sorry, but please don't include me in this.

I liked Anders when he was in Awakenings(with Greg Ellis voicing him and David Gaider writing him). The "Anders" that was in DA2 was not the same guy I knew and loved. This is just my opinion, of course. I know that the DA2 version of him has alot of fans and I don't begrudge them for liking him one bit. :)

Back on to the subject...I think Cassandra could be a fine companion, although she could never take the place of my bff, Leliana.

That's cause he's not really the same person. He's Anders and Justice mixed into one. Anders views with Justice's extremism. I love him as a brilliant piece of writing and on my first playthrough we were total bros. Until he betrayed me and made me complicit in the deaths of all the people at the Chantry temple. Now I hate him(still brilliant writing because it evokes such strong emotions).

No kidding. That Is why I am a fanboy of Anders since Awakening.

You realize I was being sarcastic yes?

The point stands - experience with the case of Anders has shown that for every player that's happy with the companions being more then glorified dolls, there's someone upset that a companion dared do something on their own.

But without our companions being imcompetent in almost every aspect of their lives, what's left for the protagonist to do?

Chill while he orders his companions to do things for him. Works pretty well in TOR.

I think Cassandra would make a great companion! It would be fun to have a companion who was "manly" enough to second guess your actions... it creates tension and adds a whole new dynamic. And, what if a companion ended up being right but you chose not to listen to them and instead insisted on your own choice? How will you deal with "eating crow" afterward? I would like to have a moment in DA3 where a companion can say "I told you so". Besides, there is so much potential background story on Cassandra that is untold.

No, I didn't realize you were being sarcastic. I apologize.

People aren't ever 100% happy with a game. They will always have one or two things(or maybe more) that they want to change. The good thing about it is that there are forums like these where they can voice their opinions and hopefully do it while being polite. Yes, I know that's not always the case, but I remain hopeful. :)

Now, back to subject...I don't think of Cassandra as manly. She's just a woman with a job to do. If that makes her "manly", then I guess 90% of the world's women are "manly". :P

I've been expecting her to have an Aribeth type of role.

It would be pretty hilarious to constantly send companions I can't stand on crafting missions.
